Deerfield Golf & Tennis Club
About
Deerfield Golf Club in Newark, Del., is a 145-acre public course, billed as a “natural treasure.” The 18-hole championship course gets the moniker thanks to its surroundings -- the ancient forest of White Clay Creek State Park. The 145-acre play, acquired by the state of Delaware in 2005, is a par-70, 6,323-yard golf course that features rolling terrain, smooth bent grass putting surfaces and scenic vistas. The mix of memorable, distinctive holes adds to the difficulty, as does the memorable, heavily wooded setting and dramatic elevation changes. Before or after your round at Deerfield Golf Club, enjoy the large putting green, full-service practice range, or lighted tennis and paddleball courts.

Like an old Pete Dye set up
Moved to De recently so I venture out to find the area’s golf.
This place is a find. Definitely a prior private course. The building is aging and so is the course. The course is the better for it.
Goly this place is fun if you like to move the ball. The changes in elevation were a real treat since my last stop was in Savannah Ga, it’s flat and HOT. The greens are a blast and where you drop the ball on the green makes a difference between each hole. The members clearly have an advantage over the non members.
I look forward to playing this course several more times.
Kudos the staff for keeping this place up to Private club levels
Horn blew and was not offered a rain check.Paid for 18 holes played 9 doesn’t seem worth it to me.
Solid Course
Tough track due to the hills. Well kept and a fun course. A lot of greens are heavily guarded by bunkers and did I mention the hills? Definitely challenging but for the right reasons would 100% recommend.
Interesting course
My biggest complaint.... they need more sand in the bunkers. So many bunkers to maintain.
Great Greens and Hills
Deerfield is a great course with great greens. But before you play I recommend you practice your side hill lie shots !
Starter was great as well as the club house staff .
Very enjoyable experience .
Too much elevation changes
Course is nice and well kept but I am not going back because of to much elevations changes. Takes fun out of game. More about hills rather than golf. Not my type
Ups and downs
Challenging hills and sloped fairways, beneficial to have played the course before or play with someone who has.
Grounds crew did an excellent job keeping leaves at bay under windy conditions.
Greens had late aeration but rolled fairly well some faster than others. Fairways, collars and approaches in great shape.
Overall 4.5 stars for the great condition, lost 1/2 for the greens
