Fairways and grass
Overall experience was great however this course needs an overhaul for rough, fairways and greens. Lots of dirt throughout the course.
Let’s get it together
I golf here a lot! I just wish they would put more money into the actual track instead if the aesthetics. T boxes uneven they have been for years, the greens are near perfect! The fairways are full of crab grass in the spring, look out for alot of down lies, I would say that keeping the ball in the fairway is a premium. On some holes it is, but on others it’s a detriment due in part to the crab grass. They have been working ln the bunkers which I am happy about as I am an above average bunkers player. More sand is being added. Pace of play can be slower than molasses in winter on weekends ⭐️ there. Being that this is my home track I would like to see more concentrated efforts on fixing the things that golfers care about on the whole! Pun intended!

First time playing this course. They were sending people off of hole 10 and hole 1at the same time which led to a disaster by the turn. Extremely slow pace of play, the first 6 holes took 2 hours. The starter was sending off groups of 5, when asked why he had an attitude like I was in the wrong for even asking. Course overall was challenging especially with a constant 20 mph wind. Narrow fairways, small greens, ridiculous pin placements. Greens were lightning fast and most sloped from back to front, very easy to putt off the green. Fairways and rough were pretty spotty, not a lot of grass. Tee boxes were all sloped and no grass. Bunkers were either hard pan or mud. Glad we tried this course, but we wont back. Place was a dump.

Where is a ranger?
14 holes in, 4 hrs and 15 minutes is unacceptable pace of play. Foursomes in front of us were so slow and held up 3 groups behind waiting every hole from start. No RANGER to be found to make sure these bunch of no golf adequate players moving along so we ended up quitting after 14 holes. 5 hours plus in my estimation if we played 18 holes. This course should not play more than 4 hrs.
Too Many Beginners Playing
I booked as a single and was paired with another twosome. Nice guys, but the younger one was brand new to the sport and should have gone to the driving range instead of playing on a real golf course. His partner was better but was still not very good. The foursome in front of us had a Dad and his two teenagers that were hitting the ball all over the place. Mid-week and the pace was abysmal. Third time playing the course and it will definitely be my last time. It is a shame because it is relatively close by and relatively inexpensive.
It irks me that it is one of the 3 nearby courses in Delaware that do NOT accept any of the Golf Now Discounts on Hot Deals be it the weekly percentage off codes nor the Reward Promo Codes.
The Pro Shop guy was extremely friendly and professional.
What happened?
First time I played Porky's this year. What happened to this course? New groundskeeper?
Their greens always use to be in good shape. Not now! The tee boxes were beat up and the fairways looked like they were coming back last year. I use to play here a lot. I just couldn't get over the poor condition of the greens. That was always a strength of this course. The women's tee boxes like great.
Good, not great
The course itself is fun the play with a few dog legs but most holes are flat and straight. Pace of play when I went (10:40am tee time on a Sunday) was very good. Only had to wait a couple mins on a few holes and there was no one behind, rushing us from the tee box. The ranger was constantly making his rounds and making sure people played on pace. The course could be kept a little better. Some of the tee boxes were really patchy and tough to stick a tee in. Fairways needed some love (partly because they didn’t provide any sand/seed to plug up divots on the carts). Greens were in better shape but still had a few holes that were patchy and would affect your line. You get what you pay for. Good overall value, not great though. I’d come back to practice, not for a fun competitive round with the gang.
Poor up keep
Very disappointed course was not in good condition over all and rangers didn’t keep the pace up with groups and kids holes playing multiple times
Good value
A bit simple and the sand traps could use some work. Good experience for the money.
Great Muni for Practice
Pretty fair course and no tricked up holes. Run of the mill bar which is designed to be hit before and after the front 9. Greens are in excellent shape, run fast, and true which is surprising because the rest of the course is completely burned out. Hit it straight and it’ll run for days. Not a bad course at all for the price. I’ll be playing here again.
It is what it is
For the price, you can't beat it. The greens were the only well kept part of the place. Layout allows for beers and a glizzy between 9's.
Overall, decent place to come with a group or family.
Great price for the conditions
I played on a holiday weekend for just 55 a person. The course was in great shape for a cheap rate. Greens where very hard to read. The only thing bad about the course is the pace of play. Expect to have at least a 4 hour round, mine took 4 hours and 45 minutes. However I had a great time and for the price recommend it!
Pace of play
Nice course but the pace of play is the worst I have ever seen. Usually it is slow, but today was the slowest round I have ever seen. Took over 3 hours to play the front 9.
Thanks for your review! We hope to see you again soon.
