Three putt bogey
This was my first time playing Rock Manor. It started with the starter letting me know that he "works off tips" then allowed me to put my own bag on the cart. The course was wet and they just punched the fairways. The grass pulled from the fairway was dumped in the ruff, so it was impossible to get a clean lie. The greens were also punched and caused numerous putts to bounce off line. There were a half dozen golf holes that felt like they didn't have enough room but built a golf course there any ways. All in all, I won't be back and I won't recommend it to any of my friends.
Good but not great
First time playing the course. Overall, pretty solid course. The front nine has a good layout with good use of a natural preserve. Back 9 felt a little squeezed in at times, and it's a very lackluster finishing hole. Overall the course is in really good shape. Pretty good greens, but don't listen to the starter, who said they were rolling at a 12 or 13. They were maybe a 10. Not fast at all, but smooth and firm for the most part. Food at the pub was really, really good, and not expensive at all, and bartender was super nice. For $95, it was a little steep, and probably should have included range balls, but given that the course was packed, I guess people don't mind too much.
Thanks for playing our course! We look forward to having you back

The Rock 2/8
The closest course to my house, Rock manor is a good muni that has a reputation for above average conditions and slow play. But only one of those things didn’t happen. A little over 4 hours to play with a lot of cart path only holes is, unfortunately, not the norm.
Course is above average condition for February. Greens were fast. The bunkers looked and played well, according to the others in my group. ( I was lucky and missed them all)
It was great to get the first round of the year in the books. Paid the regular rate of $44 for a mid week afternoon tee time. Maybe a little high for winter golf, but the proximity to my house made it worth the little extra.
For what’s it’s worth, I had the typical February round. 54-40. My personal best on the back 9 .
Always a good time at the ROCK
Conditions good green speed good but alot of unrepaired ball marks.
Pace of play excellent, about 4 or 5 groups total on the course.
Fairways and tees good bunkers weren't raked anywhere but had good sand
Good layout, every hole is different, some easy,a few hard,. A fun challenge.
Course Layout is short but challenging. Greens are super Fast but will hold approach shots. Any over struck putts or chips will roll for days. Players need ti fix divots on putting surface!!
Great Course!
Really nice course with super fast greens. If you like fast greens, this is the place for you. For the most part, fairly open. A couple of holes have very well placed bunkers for tee shots & a couple of holes where the carry is 170 yards over trouble! All in all a very nice course if you can get in under $75. Nice staff and good place to eat/refreshments.
Not Augusta National
Fees are too high and the staff is not very friendly!!
Great time
I had a great time at this course. A lot of the time courses have very similar holes and are not unique. This course was not the case and each hole had new challenges and different layouts. It was in great conditions especially the greens. They were rolling very quick and true for this time of year. I got a great deal online for an afternoon tea time and finished up in four hours. I would love to be back
Thanks for the review, Bfox17. Hope to see you again in the near future!
