The Bay Club in Berlin, just a few miles from Ocean City, boasts two 18-hole championship courses, the West and the East. Both golf courses play through mature woodlands but they also incorporate plenty of water. In fact, the original West Course is the more well known course due to its famous island green hole. Aptly nicknamed "Devil's Island," this treacherous par 3 is both the signature hole and an Eastern Shore landmark. Not only is the green surrounded by hills that slope back into the water, the hole also plays into prevailing wind. Golfers will need proper club selection a good strategy and a bit of luck to tackle this hole. The layout is also home to the "Green Monster," a massive double green that serves the ninth and 18th holes.

Bay Club West
Nice course with fast greens.
Shot makers dream
The West Course is tight with a lot of trees. If you can't keep your drive straight, this is not the place for you. Every other hole is a dog leg left or right through the trees. Course conditions were ok with some rough spots. Greens were small and on the slower side. However, the course was fairly wet from a storm a few days prior. The drainage must not be great and there is a ton of shade from the trees. There are a few nice holes with island type greens and the signature 9th and 18th shared green. The East Course looks a little more open and forgiving. Would play again but can do better elsewhere for $60.
Good times in vacation land.
Excellent, friendly staff. Free, quality range balls with our tee time. Quiet electric carts. Bent grass greens were true but cut a litle long for my taste, hence a little slow. Rough was penal. Great rate. No getting around it, big flies bothered us. Would bring bug spray. No different from other courses we've played in the area., it's just buggy in late July humidity. Gotta accept it. Will go back for sure.
Great course for the money
Hottest day in July and the staff were still super friendly and very accommodating. From the bag drop off area to the pro shop to the restaurant, everybody was extremely welcoming.
The course was a great mix of tight holes and open areas. Hole 14, with its island green was beautiful and challenging.
Great round
Course was in great shape and greens also, just don't forget your bug spray, really enjoyed the round, friendly staff, I will return.
Challenging pin placement
We golfed in late March, it was a little windy and chilly, but we were impressed with the conditions. The green were very good, balls rolled true and fast. We really liked the feel of the course with no houses on the courses, and found the layout to be fair but challenging.
Challenging
Cart path only because of the weather. We got our excessive in. The course was not crowded. ( no waiting) and it was in excellant shape for March. Looking forward to playing there again.
Good pace of play
Upon arriving I checked into the pro shop and was greated by a friendly employee.
The started got us started before our tee time. We enjoyed a good pace of play.
The tee boxes and fairways were in good condition.
The course was In great condition considering that the week before they received the effects of the hurricane.
This course is one of my usual stops whe. I hold in the area.
Great Day!
Golfing at Bay Club was an excellent value for the cost. Very nice course conditions with a challenging layout. Would play there again without hesitation.
Great course for the price
I played this course first time, although I played the East one quiet a few times. It is more challenging than the East one and definitely has more water hazards. it is in a good condition and staff is very friendly.
Better than expected
Really annoyed about the pace of play. Doesn't take 3 guys to find a ball, If all three hit and you can't find it , drop.
Play from your tees which made it worse.
Other than that is go back. I play as a singe but get paired up. When the guy you get paired with leaves , that's bad
Great Shape!
Played the west course. If you like tight fairways and tight greens, you will love this place. Greens were in great shape and we had no bug problems as others described. Play smart and keep the driver in the bag unless you hit it straight! Highly recommend, very friendly staff.
Excellent condition
Will return for the East course the next time I come to ocean city.
Bay Club West
Course was in good shape. We played as a twosome behind two other twosome but the pace of play was very, very slow. We saw no rangers the entire 4 1/2 plus hours!!
Berlin's gem
Played the east and then the west the following day. Loved them both. The east is a good warm up for the west as the west IS tougher and has more water. Both were in great shape tee to green, and the zoysia fairways on the east made finding the fairway a delight. Plenty of course for all levels of player with 5 tee positions per hole. Super friendly staff! We'll surely be back!
Sailed Through 18 holes.
We had a 2:36 tee time, arrived at 1:45 and once we carted up were allowed to go right out at 2:00 PM. The course was open and we played 18 (with about a 15 minute snack break at the turn since there was nobody behind us) in 3:20. The course is in great condition and the greens are true with a couple of difficult pin placements to keep things interesting.
Course is in great shape,
Course in wonderful shape.
Pace of play was typical resort. 5.5 hours!
Expect a longer round than you have at your home course. Played West 18.
nice course
Well maintained, friendly course.Very windy on some holes. The whites were a little long so I played the blended tees.Enjoyable for a 90s golfer.Would play again.
Good for the time of year
I would have enjoyed the round more with a full group, playing by myself was a ruin of the pace and taking the proper time to enjoy all the course had to offer. The course was in excellent condition for the season, which I could have played it to its toughest in the summer. Will definitely try to look for another bargain to come and will return.
Love the Place!!
My friends and I played there frequently about 5-10 years ago. Went back yesterday with my son who is a beginner. Food service staff and starters were very friendly!! Course was in great shape considering it's the end of a very busy season for them. A very challenging yet playable course- highly recommend for locals and vacationers! No gimmickery, just great golf, and a great island green!
