GlenRiddle Golf Club - War Admiral Course
About
War Admiral is one of two championship courses at GlenRiddle Golf Club in Berlin. The other is the Man O' War, which incorporates part of a historic racetrack that was used to train champion thoroughbreds. The War Admiral Course offers a different character with a layout that is routed through mature woodlands, completely sheltered from the wind unlike its wide-open sister course. The scenic landscape is dotted with water features including a scenic tidal marsh that lends itself to five dramatic holes. In addition to the natural features, there are also numerous bunkers strategically placed throughout. It is a golf course that demands accuracy. Although it is less than 6,900 yards from the back tees, the hazards make it seem much longer. One characteristic that both courses at GlenRiddle Golf Club have in common are the scenic views that can be enjoyed from nearly every hole.

Not for the average Joe
I quit after 9! This is a great course but save your $ if your above a 15 HCP! The layout is brutal.
Amazing design.
Played @ War Admiral.Several forced carries.Interesting green complexes.Play it before houses sprout up!
Thahksgiving round
Played this beautiful course the day after Thaksgiving. Course was in very good shape regardless of the huge amount of rain we recently had. Temperature was in the low 40's so we could not tee off until 11. regardless of the cold and wind we had a great time on this beautiful and challenging course. Glen Riddle is the best golf experience you will find on thr Delmarva peninsula. Must experience Ruth Chris at the club house. great food and lounge after our round.
Man of War in Winter
Overall course was in very good shape. Greens were a little slow due to weather.
Great fairway features
Ranks right up there with the best courses on Delmarva. Wonderful scenery and love the elevation changes and use of mounds both in and on the edges of the fairways. Highly recommend!
Gem at the Beach
A Gem on Maryland's eastern shore. Course was challenging with holes requiring target shots. GPS on course provided details needed for club selection. Greens were fast and in excellent condition. Wind affected couple of holes on the course. Some forced carries and pot bunkers to stay out of. Excellent facility and great value.
played war admiral
Beautiful course, had fun, a little wet but other was in good condition, did not have lunch, great rate through golf now. Will play again next time in town.
Good day
The back 9 is most challenging. Course is in good shape.
Great course
Had a wonderful time even though weather was very hot.
Each hole has hidden trouble so very excited to play every hole.
Can't wait till play again!
Immaculate, challenging, and fair
I played War Admiral with one other person. The weather was perfect and the two of us didn't see another golfer on the course for the entire round. We were playing a $38 round through Golfnow. The normal price, and probably fair price, is $129. If this isn't the finest course I have ever played, it is very close. Bermuda greens, which are hard for me to read, and some water to be seen on many holes. The wetlands come into play on nearly every hole, but not if you plan your shots well. There were a few forced carries but they were no longer than 170 yards and seemed reasonable. You don't always need a driver on the tees, but you may be longer than you expect on approaches. On one hole I hit a 5 iron to the end of the fairway and had a 4 iron in to the pin. It would really help to play with a member as we were both first timers and quite surprised with shot results more than a few times when we reached our ball. Even though there are wetland carries, there are also large apron areas short and to one side of all greens so a miss is not routinely punished severely. I think the analytical, serious golfer will love this place, but the "grip and rip" types may find it frustrating.
great course
nothing but the best. the course was wide open, the fairways were in excellent shape as well as the greens. the layout is fantastick, worked the water into the course to make it wonderful. a must play course. the staff was great.
Nice Track
Nice course, greens were very receptive. A lot of forced carries is what makes this challenging.
This course has some very tough holes for women.
There are a few holes with eco areas and even with the 1st or 2nd shot laying up close to the edge, it is still a great distance to reach the other side. As a woman I knew I couldn't reach so I had my husband hit the shot and I just counted 2 strokes. Other than that it is a beautiful course.
Choose correct tees
I played from the blue tees about 6300 yds, my playing partner played from the whites which only played about 5800. Must hit a straight tee shot. High handicappers will struggle because several holes required a carry to green. Short par 4s were quirky requiring correct yardage of tee to avoid trouble. Par 5s on back were quirky as well requiring a lay up on tee shot followed by hole opening up on 2nd shot. Greens are fast and small.
One of the best courses you will ever play
The course is in immaculate shape, from the tee box to the fairway and on to the greens, the delayed tee time avoids back up and makes you enjoy your game more
Great course
The course was in great condition, the greens were smooth and consistent in speed. Interesting layout. Good mix of long and short holes.
Quite a Test
Course has some interesting character to it. It's not a bombers course, you will use long irons or fairway woods off several tees. They are developing (or will someday - the lots are laid out) on the back and I think that will ruin some of the character of the course. Also thought the tee for 18, being 10 paces behind the 17 green was a bit odd. Overall it's a nice course, a little on the pricy side. I wouldn't rate it as high as others in the area (Rum, Bayside, Lighthouse), but it's worth a go.
Challenging course during beach vacation
War admiral was much more difficult than Man of War. There were many blind shots and many areas where you had to clear wet marshlands.
Fairways and greens were outstanding.
Very pretty course but holes 1, 9 & 18 were too difficult.
The best part was having an outstanding meal at Ruth Chris. Lobster tail and filet mignon was woe the visit.
Beautiful course
Excellent course that's challenging with fast greens. Great for beginners to advanced golfers. I come back every year I come to ocean city
