Not all that glitters is gold
. New owners spent as much on the bar as they did to improve the course. Greens have been super slow for a year and nothing is improving with green speed. You can’t even put on them . Young starter has been rude multiple times . Dude this is Patriots not Deerfield. Overpriced for the Elkton market. You’ve put lipstick on a pig but she isn’t winning a metals at the fair. Rolling the greens daily would help with green speed but they refuse to spend the money on a decent greens roller. Staffer said we have a greens roller but it’s broke. Not a great place for above average golfers who know the deal ..
Needs mowing
Played on a perfect Monday afternoon. Waited for people to finish to get a cart. Driving range closed, greens needed mowed (furry and very slow) as did the fairways. Not a bad layout, just needs some work on conditioning.
Customer service matters
Course is getting better. Greens still a little long and slow, but also almost 100% grass covered. Noticed some of the greens they had shrunk down in size, but again, completely grass covered. No noticeable work done to the range yet, even With a scheduled opening of the end of the summer. Fairways are getting better. Occasionally had to roll the ball in the fairway to get a soy patch of grass, but getting better.
Played as a 2some at 12:50 on Father’s Day. Was worried about a potential 5 hour round. Another 2some let us play thru on the 4th hole. Got thru 12-13 holes before running into other players and finished in just over 4 hours.
The 5th star today is for the young cart person that informed us we could take our cart up to the parking lot and he would be happy to bring it back down the hill. Instead of just walking past us, he made a memorable impression and the 5th star for Patriots Glen. Keep up the good work everyone!!!
Most improved
Second time playing since May, fairways are improving, greens could stand to be rolled but are 100% better than past. Like the layout and can be challenging to stay in the fairways.
Great Course
The new owner has certainly put a good bit of money in this course. Great job.
Great experience
The new owners have sone a great job . You can score better on a better course.
New and improved. The Glen is coming back. Even the cart paths are being repaired.
Keep the Upgrading!!
Solid solid coarse … what a beautiful day and play. Keep the upgrading. Staff, course, setting so solid. Thank you
Excellent Condition
It appears the new owner is committed to making this a state of the art course.
Much improved
I’ve played this course several times over the last few years. The course is currently in very good shape. You can tell that the new owner and management is investing the necessary time and money. The greens look great, though they run a bit slow. The fairways are much improved. Some tee boxes need work. Clubhouse bar just enlarged and updated. A great spot for a few beers and something to eat after the round.
Best Condition I’ve ever seen at Patriot’s Glen!
As someone that’s played this course a few times in recent years, this is by far the best condition the course has ever been in. Green’s are very clean and fairways are filling in nicely. New carts, new restaurant and a new back porch also help make the round and 19th hole very enjoyable. I would highly recommend anyone that’s played here in recent years book a tee time and see how great it’s coming along.
Great layout in OK shape
Played on a hot deal and it was worth it. Not sure this will ever be a $60+ Golf course. I love the layout with a variety of challenging holes. Long and short Pat 4’s. Greens were slow but in good shape just needed a cut. Course has had trouble with crab grass since the beginning but it gets better every time I play it. Prepare for ‘roll it in the fairway’ day to avoid tough lies in the fairway. Range was closed but they have plans for a state of the art range, ‘coming soon’. All in all a great day of golf with my boys. We will be back
Excellent
What a breath of fresh air!!
On my quest to play golf in every state of the United States this course in Maryland was exceptional. It has been recently been bought by new management and they are certainly doing their best to make it an exceptional course for the price. The layout of the course was very easy to follow and everyone was very helpful and pleasant to deal with. And I hope that they send me their logo bowl to add to my collection. If not I will certainly stop by to pick one up and play another round
Course is great!
Patriots Glen is a great place to play. Course was in great shape and it’s a good challenge.
Improving
Greens are greatly improved and should be true by July 1st.
Decent course for sunday golfers, dont think its priced according to the course condition but a good day out none the less.
Work in progress
I have played here for years and the course has been on a steady decline. I loved hearing at the end of last year that new ownership was coming in and were shutting down the course for a little while. Got a chance to play it and a lot of work needs to still happen. Tee boxes are terrible/dead and need to be re done. Fairways and rough need time to come around but looks better then last year. Bunkers were still rough. Now the biggest problem in the past were the lack of greens. Many over the years were burnt up and there wasn’t any grass at all. The closing of the course for a little definitely helped that. Greens were much better and there was actually grass. They haven’t been cut yet so it’s like putting on carpet but at least it’s grass. So there is definitely progress and hopefully it continues to trend in an upward pattern. Price was a little steep for the current conditions. I think it’s a $50 course once everything comes together but not yet. I will not be coming back to play unless the price drops a little or the course makes the full turnaround.
