Private course? My expectations were low but GD
I booked this round looking for a nice higher quality course in the DC area, but was left very unimpressed. The holes are literally on top of each other, I’m used to playing links golf but there are multiple times where you’re standing on a tee box and you’re in immediate danger. Our group was hit on two different occasions, were almost hit three other times, and in terms of course conditions it was hardly playable. 72 degrees out I know they got rain the day before but it was a muddy sloppy mess. Cart paths weren’t paved well, no nets protecting the houses just out of bounds, and the clubhouse left a lot to be desired. Very hard to believe this is a private country club.
We're glad you enjoyed your 5-star experience with us. Please comment or reach out to our team in the golf shop to let us know more about your round at National Golf Club!

Worth your time
This has become one of my favorite courses. The greens are pristine and roll true. This course makes you think about shot selection and while its challenging its still fun. Great warm up facilities with balls included. Walkable, yeah maybe not so much but a little stroll in a golf cart is not so bad. worth you time you will enjoy the round and the staff is exceptionally friendly.
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing National Golf Club.
Greens were pristine!
National is in great shape for November golf and the greens were in excellent condition. A couple of the tee boxes need a little more attention...
Thanks so much for the great review, tahphd. We look forward to welcoming you back to our course soon. Thanks for choosing National Golf Club.
Nice find
Worth playing if you can get on under $60. Clubhouse, parking lot and pro shop have seen better days. Full range, practice area and putting green is well kept and worth checking out. Course was in great shape and pace of play on a weekend was just about 4:10.

Lots of fun
Friday. Wasn't crowded.
Late summer.. fairways weren't in the best shape, greens were ok.
First time there we had a blast.
Lots of water to get over..
Tough but not ridiculous.
Played from white tees..
Perfect weather.
A new addition to our list of courses
Golf now made the private club available
Not the cheapest course.. it's worth it
Thank you so much for the great review. We are glad you had an incredible time, and we hope to see you again soon! Thanks for choosing National Golf Club.
Not so private
This is an interesting situation because I thing it’s a great track & deal as a GolfNow customer but if I were a member I wouldn’t be so happy.
It’s a very nice old school country club layout, it has a lot of really good holes ,however, it’s not in CC condition that’s for sure.
I wouldn’t go out of my way to play this course but if you’re in the area it’s well worth the GolfNow rate. Like many courses in the area there are a lot of ball makes and the greens are a lot slower than the look.

Kid’s Tournament = Slow Pace of Play- Course Staff doesn’t Care
There was a kids (I.e as young as 9 years old). tournament going on and the staff knew the place of plate would be slow and didn’t seem to care.. of course the tournament moved slower than what the golf course staff anticipated as usual. They should not sell teetimes on golf now when they know they have a tournament going on.
Of course when you tell them that you’d like to get your money back they tell you that you have to go back to GolfNow. So they leave you with a take it or leave it scenario. However due to the financial challenges this course has had over the past several years I guess they just want to make money anyway possible. Anyone who golfed that day while the tournament was going on should have been given at least a 25% discount considering how slow the pace of play was for paying golfers.

Surprised
I had been looking forward to playing this course for some time, as it’s a private club. I was able to play by utilizing GoofNow. The tee boxes and fairways, for the most part, are in poor condition. The greens had been aerated recently but seemed like they will be nice soon.
I guess I expected more from a private golf club.
Swan Point is semi-private, in Southern Maryland and the best course south of DC.

Repair ball marks
Course in pretty good shape. The greens roll slow but true. Biggest problem is way too many golfers are ignoring their ball marks on the green. I repaired, on average, about 4 ball marks each green and there were plenty more that needed repair.

Good time with friends
The status of green should be maintained for keeping putting feel. It was too slow due to the long grass.

National
This is a private club that I was afforded the op to play by Golf Now. The Pro Shop was a broom closet and the course was in bad shape. Putting was non existent as the greens were punched and very very shaggy. So much so a 1 foot put was hard to make. Pace of play was bad but it may have just been my little corner of the course on that day at that time.
Not worth the drive.
We apologize for the pace of play issue you experienced. We always try to keep a great pace when having our golfers on the course. Thank you for taking the time to give us your feedback as we will use your review to better the experience going forward. We hope you give us another try in the near future!
What to say?
I played here for the first time after looking for a new course after becoming irrated by Reston National. Didn't know what to expect - is it private or public (available on GolfNow)? It is public and was wide open on a Tuesday. Played by myself, never waitied, and finished in about 3 hours. Liked the course layout - open, hilly, lots of trees - but quality could be better. A number of very wet spots and the edges of fairways were very spotty. Facilities were non-existant. Pro shop was at the end of a long walk and wkas just a guy sitting at a desk.
