Ok
The entrance to the course needs to be better defined. It's a bit confusing.
The parking is ok. Club house needs to be refurbished.
The course is in a reasonable condition. The course of play was not really been monitored properly. A big sign should be posted so people need to keep either the pace or the group in front.
This last item has been a problem on all the courses in the area.
Interesting elevation changes
Course was in better shape than expected. Fairways drain well. Rough is not horrible. With a few exceptions, you can make a mistake without it killing you. Sometimes you are shooting blind unless you ride ahead to check out green locations. Very pretty course
Great Course, great staff
The staff was very friendly and the food was good and drinks were cold. Course was in really good shape. Greens were fast
BEWARE
Buatiful course big problem with payment
I had a reservation thru golf now for 33 dollars a plyaer when I went to course they did not honer golf now prices even thou i had confirmation printed out they told me golf now cannot dictate rattlewoods prices it cost me an extra 13 dollars a player
So Be Careful with this course they dont abide by golf now pricing
EXTREMELY UPSET !!!!!
Ok for almost spring
For just having finished an awful winter the course itself was in decent shape. Pro shop, practice facility (such as it is) remains poor. Won't talk about bar, dining... Not open and still being rennovated? Paint can on the bar.
Cool, well maybe even cold and breezy round, but a very nice course.
Temps hovered right about 50 with a medium breeze to make it feel even a bit cooler. I have read a number of negative reviews of Rattlewood, but to be perfectly honest I did not see much wrong at all, greens were fast, firm, true. They also insured you paid plenty of attention any time you were above the hole. My playing partner did not mention any issues with her teeing areas, but I did notice a few were a little uneven. Fairways were in very good shape and the rough was, well he rough, tough even to be penalizing without being totally demoralizing. Staff was terrific, the group in front of us was a little slow, but we still played in 4 hours. Maybe not as scenic as Little Bennett, but not by that much and all in all a much more fair golf course. Little Bennett has way too many blind shots, not saying I will not give that L.B. another go someday.
Good course
This is my 6th time playing here and it's still a good course to play. All hike are pretty straight forward and no big surprises.
Not a destination course
We have played all the other Montgomery county courses and wanted to experience this one. We had a 40 minute drive but probably won't return. It's not as pretty or well maintained as Little Bennett (for a destination golf outing). My main issue was that there was not a level tee box on the entire course. The fairways and greens were in good condition. However, since Needwood, Laytonsville, Northwest and Hampshire Greens are all less than a 15 minute drive, I'll stick with those.
The course is wonderful !
Can't wait to play it again The staff is very friendly, and The chicken salad is delicious !
A course trending the right way
This facility is improving every year of late. Excellent greens and fairways. The staff is really working on pace of play and my last round was in at 4 hours.
Rattlewood
Course was under repair on some holes and the rough was extremely high, each member lost a ball in the rough during our round. Will be back to play the course again.
Good news, bad news
First the good stuff: For a public course that probably gets a lot of play, I thought the greens were really nice. Fairly quick and smooth. Pace of play was very good for a Saturday morning with excellent weather. We finished in a tad over 4 hours. I will also say that this place has one of the friendliest staffs I've every seen.
Now the not so good stuff: They are in the middle of changing the fairway grass (re-grassing with Bermuda). They've done about half the fairways. The fairways that they haven't started on yet were really nice. The ones they've started on are kind of a mess. So you nine really nice fairways and nine you'd just as soon do without.
Challenge but fair
Enjoyed playing but with the early spring cold and
wind it was not a fair review. Will make our way back under better conditions as we found this to be a fair course but to enjoy we want to play in a bit warmer weather.
Good course, play it
Course is well maintained and a fair challenge. Pace of play can be slow at times. So go at off peak hours, it will be more fun. You should play this course if you are in the area.
Better then expected
Went there with a buddy and played 18. Didn't realize this outing included range balls and lunch. I was impressed by this and the course was nice as well.
Best deal near DC!
You simply can not beat the "member for a day" deal! It's simply the best deal in the metro DC area! I drove almost an hour from VA to play the course and got way more than I expected...range balls, breakfast, lunch and unlimited golf with great weather to boot! Awesome! Thanks MoCo!
This course is well maintained
Went to Rattlewood for an impromptu mid-week 9 holes with neighbors after work. It was easy to get to and the staff was exceptionally friendly! We were a little concerned about the course maintenance before we arrived but it was in excellent shape and we had a wonderful evening. We will definitely go to Rattlewood again.
I would have called a few other places nearby and walked away if I could have found something else. If they were not willing to honor a printed reservation from Golfnow, they would have watched the extra $52, plus $132 I agreed to pay walk away. I would have had the person at the counter sign the printout in the event they tried to get money from my card too. I only played there once, but if they would have tried this on me, it would have been nonce. Too many other good courses within 20 minutes to be treated that way.
