this needs attention
It looks as though they gave the greens keepers the autum off Just off the fairway the rough was in dire need of a cut. Found several balls that people had apparently given up looking for. The greens are very challenging. Very fast. Would be an outstanding course if it were given a little TLC..
WILL NEVER GO BACK........
Wakefield Valley has gone from one of the best values for the dollar in recent years to a major disappointment. I booked a time through GolfNow for yesterday and after getting to the course we were greeted by the Pro Shop staff outside of the clubhouse asking if he could help us. I thought that was very strange and felt like there was something that he wanted to say to us that we weren't going to like. Well anyway, I told him the name of our group and our time and he said to me, "DID YOU BOOK IT THROUGH GOLFNOW? WE'RE HAVING AN OUTING TODAY AND WE WON'T BE ABLE TO GET YOU". I was very heated but I only said to my playing partner to let's call Quail Valley and head up there. The day started out as a disappointed but ended being a great day. Much better golf course, better staff and a better value. Wakefield Valley has suffered in the past 2-3 years, but I wanted to give them one more chance since I'd recently heard that the conditions were almost back to what they once were. The staff has always been short and dismissive to NON MEMBERS (or regular players) but yesterday was an outright disgrace. They did NOT apologize for the oversight, offer us anything for our inconvenience or anything at all. It was apparent that we weren't the only group that this had happened to because the staff was standing outside of the Pro Shop to intercept us folks who had been misled. After that incident I will never go back to Wakefield Valley ever again.
This course has a nice layout but conditioning needs help
The conditions at this course have gotten worse in recent years. This course used to have great fast greens. On the day that I played the greens were slow and choppy. In addition the fairways were not in good shape either. The only reasons why I would recommend playing this course is the nice layout and the great prices through GolfNow.com. It cost only $26.00 for two of us to play. I would recommend playing other courses in the area if you have to pay full price. One more note. We played on a sunny 80 degree Friday afternoon and the course was empty. I think that says it all.
Pretty Run Down
Played with my Dad on 8/31. Last time I played this course was probably 6 or 7 years ago in a tournament and it was in pretty good shape back then. Now, unfortunately, the course is in bad shape and really looks neglected. There is very little grass in the fairways and what's there is mostly crabgrass. The only good news is that there was almost no one there (no big surprise) and we zoomed around the course at our own pace. In fairness, I would say that the greens really were pretty good. I found this surprising given the very poor condition of the tees and fairways.
Course is in very poor shape.
Tee boxes were in disrepair. Fairways had a multitude of different grasses in them and were poorly maintained. Greens were too long. Golf cart paths were in disrepair. Not worth the money. It is a shame how this course has fallen into disrepair. Will not play the course again.
It's unfortunate that such a great location and a great layout is being let go through owners/management that have no business running this course. Not sure what is going on, played there with a buddy of mine, its Saturday morning, 6 cars in the parking lot, perfect spring morning????? Where are the golfers??? Course in the worst shape it has ever been, ask the pro? in the shop why he would tell people that called the the course was in great shape, (I had called earlier), he said "that it is", then I asked, why has the course been let go? His answer, "it rained on Thursday"??? Only way I'll come back again is with a guarantee that the course is playable, fairways not cut, greens nut cut, aerated and in need of watering, browning, dirt and dry. Just a shame>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>
