Excellent
Pace was slow do to a slow foursome in front of us. Plus no real clubhouse. But…course was in excellent shape. Greens were slow compared to other times I have played here.
We had a terrific day of golf.
Enjoyable if not memorable
It's always harsh to criticize a course that is trying, but a prefab clubhouse with no real amenities is hard to swallow. I understand capital costs have rocketed since Covid and understand delays in construction, but come on...
That said, the layout of the course is great, challenging enough to keep you interested without being overly brutal for those of us newer to the game. Shocked to see so many sandy & burnt sections of putting green (especially on the front 9) and they definitely look as though they need more watering.
Course was extremely dry when we played which meant that even topping the ball I was getting decent distance (my saving grace). Layout is good and there is definitely something for everyone.
Really looking forward to seeing the clubhouse once construction starts and maybe even complete the asphalt cart path and driveway.
Will definitely be back as I did enjoy my round.
Well worth a visit
A relatively easy course. Wide open for the most part, but a lot of water comes into play. Ground was hard, particularly considering the amount of rain it has received in the last 30 days. Greens do not hold, but not a lot of trouble if you run off.
No clubhouse, so no beer or sandwiches for sale.
Deffinately would play the course again.
Friendly play
Overall course conditions were good. A couple of greens are recovering from winter kill. Still a tough course to play. I will go back
One of my favorites
BGC is close to home, so that is a plus for me. That said, I like a links golf course. I'm not that consistent a golfer so this course throws curves at me constantly which I like because it will make me a better golfer. Some look down on the course because currently the Pro shop/office is a mobile home but that should not scare a new customer away (the new Pro shop is just around the corner I'm told). The greens are an easy 9.5 while the fairways are a 10. Some tee boxes are in serious need of help, but they are working on them.
Good courses for the money
Course is in better shape than some more costly ones in the area. Good track
Super-Friendly Staff, Intriguing Layout, Great Price
The best part of the course was the super-friendly staff who were truly flexible and accommodating. They made me feel like at home. The course layout was intriguing enough to make me come back for the third time despite higher-than-anticipated scores. I bet that this course will thoroughly test your golf skills. The course is designed to not allow any luck. There are few trees which is a plus rather than a minus. The wide open view of the rolling mounds helped me to feel like playing at a British Open course like the old course at St. Andrews.
In short, I had a great time thanks to the awesome staff, fine weather, and fascinating layout.
New top 3 course!
Loved every bit of battlefield. Links style golf, very scoreable. Will be playing often.
Spring Conditions
Battlefield is a nice track for a very reasonable price, just a little bear in some areas due to the spring grass will be grown in about another month should be fine. Greens are rolling nicely and as always the staff are very friendly.
