Terrible greens
Greens were horrible. Crab grass patches throughout every green. Bunkers full rocks.
What happened?
I usually play this course quite a bit. I played there about six weeks ago and the course was in very good condition. Greens were great, fairway grass was coming in nicely, and tee boxes were great. This time, tee boxes and fairways were great, but the greens have really deteriorated. Lots of brown spots in the shape of foot prints (grass was dead, or non-existent), scuff marks(dragging feet across greens), and unrepaired ball marks.....almost unplayable from some spots. The good news....pace of play for a foursome was an acceptable 4 hours and the round was enjoyable. Hope they get control of the greens before they totally lose them. This is a great course when in good condition. Looking forward to returning when it improves.
Needs Love
Guy in the pro shop was curt - seemed to be having a rough day. Tee boxes, fairways, and rough we’re all fine. But the greens were pock-marked, patchy, and bumpy and the bunkers throughout were unmaintained. Starter told us to play them as GUR. Pity, because the layout is nice and playable.
Very Average
Course has a couple nice holes couple holes you need to make decisions off the tee, round was a little slow they let out a 5some in front of us and when we got to 10, front 9 was being used by school so they started sending off 10 so we had golfers right behind us. Bunkers need we at least get the rocks out, but biggest problem is greens are so slow.
Rough around the edges
This course had a great layout but was a little rough around the edges in terms of conditions. There were patches of missing grass on a few of the fairways but nothing that impeded play. The greens rolled pretty slow and we’re fairly wet. Balls would not run out much. However, the course boasted a great routing. Full of a variety of long, short, wide, and narrow holes that could challenge all levels of player. I had a wonderful playing partner and over had a great time. It’s a walkable course but there is some distance between a few holes. Would play again.
Course is in solid shape!
Lee’s Hill is in good shape. Greens were soft and responsive. Bunkers were hard and unplayable but mostly due to previous rain accumulation.

Good place to play; a couple of empty water kegs on a very hot day.
Great staff, nice course.
This course will not frustrate you to the point of asking why you're playing.it. It's well maintained and the pace of play is good. If you bring your A game you can score to your handicap or maybe even better. If you are having a less than steller day you will have spent some time in a historic part of Virginia in a lovely setting.
It was way to traffic so awarfull
It talked over 2 hours,
I left 30 minutes earlier but still 40 minutes late.
Familiar place.
Back to Lee Hill...after a few rainy days, we returned to a fairly wet course. Cart path only...slowed down the play a lot. Course was in good condition as we move to warmer weather and was drying out nicely during the round. The back 9 was much better the front nine, as far as wet fairways and greens go. Yet, it was still very playable and the greens were rolling faster than one might expect, under the wet conditions. All in all, a slower than usual, but still very enjoyable, round. Greens are very nice, as are the tee boxes, and the fairways are getting more lush by the day. Still a challenging course, but an enjoyable one.
This course was challenging, and the value was good.
Enjoyed my first time playing this course. Lots of Par 5's and 4's. If you're not careful, you'll actually see a little bit of history too.
