Neglected
Played Jackson Chase in early August and have very little good to say about the course. Chewed-up tee boxes, acres of uncut crabgrass and mountains of goose droppings. Neglected greens and bunkers and an empty parking lot, perhaps due to the poor conditions. Low price does not justify a round with such a marginally playable condition.
This course has great features
Hall decorated and some fun course difficult to beat
GOOD COURSE
Played this course many times and nice to see the staff making some nice improvements to it...great deal threw golf now...don't miss playing it.
Needs attention
Jackson Chase is a course that needs immediate attention. Crab grass, goose droppings, chewed up tee boxes and unattended bunkers are some of the problems. Greens were fair. No drinking water offered anywhere on the course. The lower price made draw some some golfers but the price reflects the course conditions.
Some tricky holes with blind tee shots and confusing setup
You probably have to play this course a few times to get used to it. There are holes with blind tee shots and if you don't know what awaits you, you can be in trouble. On number 10 (par 5) my playing partner and I both hit what we thought were good tee shots only to find that the fairway slopes off to the left and we were both in the rough. You probably just need to lay up off the tee. It is hard to find balls in the rough particularly with all the clover. There is another par 4 that is a big dog leg right. Again we both went through the fairway. If there is nobody right behind you, I would recommend riding up to see what awaits you after your tee shot.
There is no drinking water on the course at all. Bring plenty with you.
The course does not seem overly busy and there are plenty of deals available. For what we paid it was okay. This is not a pristine country club course. The level of maintenance was what I expected. There were no problems with the greens.
Very fast greens with some real tricky breaks
Rained through most of our round but the course weathered the rain well. Greens, fairways and tees were well maintained. Greens were very fast for my liking. Could not go for the green on the fly on most all the holes. Even though I hit the ball high with fair backspin. I liked the course but would need to get used to pitch and run necessary to score well. Getting used to the green speed would probably come in one or two more rounds.
Relaxing
Course reference was not very well laid out so there was many holes where we just hit and hoped it was in the right direction. There was no water on the course for drinking, some ball washers were empty. We lost more balls that day than usual due to the high grass and not being able to see your target, this was a real killer. I would like to play here again but hopefully it's groomed a little shorter so we can actually find our ball.
Good layout and a challenge
The holes were challenging, particulary for the first time playing. Now that I have some course knowledge there are several holes that I would play differently. This course is not for the "hacker" unless they are willing to play from tees more appropriate for their ability. The carries on some holes are a "distance" challenge for some golfers.
Would love to play this course when the wind is not blowing 30-40 mph.
Solid Course. For the amount of money you pay, you won't find a better deal.
My experience at Jackson's Chase golf club was great. Staff was extremely friendly and welcoming. Course conditions were pretty good. Fareways and tee boxes were kept clean and in great shape but the greens left a little to be desired for. Some construction was going on at a few holes which was a bit of a turn off but overall it wasn't a big deal. No alcoholic beverages on the course which isn't fun but that's to be expected. Food and drinks were sparse to say the least but that's not why you go to golf. Overall i would give it a 7.5/10. Definitely the best value for the money you'll pay.
The course has tons of potential, still some work to do.
I found that this course has alot of great features. The course is designed very well. The fairways are kept in pretty good condition. The greens are very disappointing, very blotchy looking, and the speeds inconsistant one hole to the next. Tee boxes are also lack luster, full of weeds. Seems to need alittle more course management. There are much better options in the area.
Course needs work
Greens were dead along with tee boxes no fairway on any par threes and overpriced for the conditions comparing to the nicer golf courses in the area for the same money won't play there again
Difficult greens
Greens are hard as a rock and tough to read. They have blotches of differant grass that grow at differant rates which make it hard to keep a line.
No drinking water on course and the ball washers were all dry. Cart girl drives the course in the wrong direction. Had to wait several times for her to get out of the way.
Challenging tee shots
The course is well maintained and current management is striving to constantly improve the golfing experience. The course is built in a rolling previously wooded area and many holes have excessive side slope or ravines through the middle of the fairway. First time golfers can be very frustrated but once the course is played, knowledgeable golfers will opt out of using drivers instead using more controllable clubs and not try to get distance. This is a thinking mans course and has many challenging holes.
Short and boring - this course designer had no imagination.
Several holes have blind tee shots, landing on an inclined fairway that do not hold perfect drives, instead they roll left into weeds and are lost.
