I'm always a fan of playing from the back tees when they are tucked up in some trees above the fairway like here on #8. Photo submitted by Back9Ben on 08/05/2017

Nice course but was unaware that course just aerated greens
Great time
Play this course so much beauty everywhere you look. Go with someone if possible as it will be great to enjoy all that packsaddle
has to offer with someone. Covered bridges amazing mountain overlooks and changing of the leaves everywhere you look. Finished round with cold cider in their covered patio area while enjoying all that nature has to offer
Nowhere near expectations
This used to be one of the prettiest courses in the area but it was almost unplayable due to the conditions. Massive brown dips on the green and the grass was not even picked up off of course.
Why re-open?
The course was closed from late last year til July 2021 Apparently no maintenance was done during that period or until now. Traps haven't seen a rake since 2019. Greens have many bare/burned out patches. Frequently you have one or no tee markers. Rough is US Open style, not on purpose. Used to be a nice course but it's gone to the dogs.
Losing balls in the fair way
I have played packs addled 15 times but this was the worst I've seen anywhere I've played before grass in the fair way was about 5 inches tall and heaven help if you were out of the fair way it was about 8 inches high along the sides they were out mowing but then the cutting hide the ball also several of the greens had bad blite on them just played there 2 weeks before and wasn't that bad kind of disappointed from the shape of the course when you do get an extra day off and want to play it's never been that bad before
Goat Patch
This is the absolute worst condition course I have played in 40 years. We literally considered quitting after the first hole - we should have. The fairways looked like my lawn. Literally we couldn’t find our ball in the fairway at least a dozen times, the grass was that long. And the rough was out of control. The greens were atrocious - you literally needed to drill a ten foot putt to get it the hole - they were that slow! I haven’t played here in 8 years but played there several times a month when my son was in college. Have always loved the layout but this is no longer a golf course. The pro shop had four shirts and had a rack of used clubs that no golfer in his right mind would ever buy. Did I mention we saw golfers in sweat pants and tee shirts? Will never go back!
Please it has reopened
In excellent condition. Especially for having been closed for a recent period of time. Greens in good condition. Fairways as well. Sand being reconstructed. Some sand ready..
Conditions have improved greatly
Course has greatly improved since the June opening. Looking forward to next year
Packsaddle
The golf course is beautiful and has so much potential but the fairway grass is so long you lose your balls easily. The greens are not well maintained. It has lovely views and it’s a challenging course. Would love to see some work done on the course
If they could just make condition better
I live near Packsaddle and have played it maybe 20 times. The location and layout are great. Beautiful mountain course. Very challenging for me, a hacker, but good for a change. To be fair, we have had a lot of rain the last 2 weeks. So all of the bunkers were unplayable. The greens had a fair amount of burnout from drought earlier. The fairways were ok, but woe to you if you missed them. The rough, even just around the greens, was so high that finding your ball was hit or miss. This course has had condition issues for a long time. Expect this to continue. "Could have been a great one!"
Course was better
There where a couple of greens that had some problems and grass disease patches which almost makes the greens unplayable in spots(they did a good job keeping the pins away). Greens were not cut to a good length(more like fairway length) but it has been wet so I am hoping that is the reason for it. Some tee boxes were burned up(from the black tees) but others were good. Fairways were in great condition. This course seems like a lack of play as lead to its downfall and the layout is great and if the disease greens and tee boxes were taken care of, this course can be restored to its glorify
Stunning mountain views
Stunning mountain views.Course is re-opening it’s a beautiful layout six months it’ll be back incredible again.
