The Tattersall Youth Development Center at The First Tee Chesterfield Golf Course
About
The Tattersall Youth Development Center at The First Tee Chesterfield Golf Course, as well as the First Tee of Richmond, was established to provide educational golf programs for junior players. This comprehensive learning facility includes an 18-hole golf course, a three-hole practice loop, a large grass practice tee, a putting green, and a short-game practice area. There's also a staff of qualified coaches and golf instructors that can help you improve your score no matter what your weakness is. As a learning course, it might not be what low handicappers are looking for if they want a challenge, but it's a perfect place for beginners and high handicappers to get some practice with the game. The layout is very forgiving with wide-open fairways that offer plenty of room. The greens are fast and sometimes framed with bunkers. There are several par-3 holes that will give you a chance to work on your short game.

I get ripped off if a rain check is needed.
It was getting stormy near the turn. I ask for a rain check to avoid the weather. I get 13 dollars a piece for my wife and I. I paid 90 to for us to play. She says they get 0 dollars when I book through GolfNow. I’m not involved in whatever deal they have with GolfNow. I payed at the course. Disappointed
Fun Change of Pace
I visited First Tee for the first time and loved my time on the course. The staff were super friendly and incredibly helpful.
The course itself was fun but only a par 66, expect a large number of beginners or high handicap players on the course but with that understanding you will be in for a fun afternoon. All total it took about 3.5 hours to complete 18 holes and I can't wait to visit again.
Decent course for you money
Good practice course to play only. Only a par 66 I believe. They just aerated the greens not too long ago so it was very sandy and the tee boxes need some love or just move them to a better spot.
First tee
I played this course after several years of avoiding it. I’m glad I did. If you want practice it’s okay. Good purse for those learning. Bunch of par 3’s. Not for me but if you’re looking to practice give it a try.
Great course, bad timing
Showed up for my round and found the putting green, practice area, and front 9 closed for aeration of the greens. Played the back 9 and got a Golfnow account refund for the other 9 holes of play. Matt at First Tee and the Golfnow representative were very accommodating and great to work with to get my satisfaction. Thanks again.
Saturday at 1ST Tee
This is a great beginner course. Par 66. They had some youth classes around the range. It was great to see them learning golf. The course is fun to play from any of the tee boxes.
Nice short course for afternoon play
I have played the course several times and plan to return. Some positives include:
1) This is essentially an "executive" course or a course that has nine par-3 holes and 3 par-5 holes and is par 66. 2) It works very well for beginners and high handicappers, or for a quick 9 holes, 3) The course can be played ( all 18 holes) in roughly 3.5 hours on most weekday afternoons, 4) The layout has lots of variety and can be a challenge for lower handicappers who want to brave the longer tees, 5) The course is relatively narrow and rewards hitting it straight, 6) The course conditions are relatively good, especially the greens and fairways,7) The cost is very reasonable, and a senior can walk 9 holes in under 2- hours for $18.
The main negatives: 1) There is very rough grass ,4-6" long on the side fringes if many holes. This really should be shortened, as noted in many other reviews, 2) Pace of play can be very slow before 11AM, so play in the afternoon if you want to make time, 3) The tee- boxes are in bad shape right now and this is normal here, 4) The course handles rain well except holes #1 and #10, which can have mud or standing water near the greens, Low handicap golfers will not get to use their driver or 3- wood hardly at all.
In summary, I am a senior and like to walk ,9- holes on weekday afternoons. Good value and there are tees available for every level of play.
