Hell's Point Golf Club
About
When Hell's Point Golf Club opened in 1982, Golf Digest called it one of the best new courses and it was ranked as one of the 100 best-designed courses in the country. Renowned architect Rees Jones designed the course. He incorporated the many natural features provided by the golf course's location in the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. The fairways are edged with saltwater marshes and Jones included his signature sculpted bunkers along the greensides. Just a stone's throw from the ocean, the golf course is as scenic as it is challenging. The second hole is one of southeastern Virginia's toughest golf holes with out-of-bounds to the left, trees to the right, and a sloped fairway that leads to a well guarded, double-tiered green. This par 4 is the no. 1 handicap hole at When Hell's Point Golf Club.

Still Rocking
I made a tee time for a single the day before. The course is in excellent shape except for the cart paths. When there has been a lot rain as was the case last week you must be mindful of the pot holes.. played the course in a leisurely pace of 4 hours. One of my favorite courses to play in the area
Terrible bunkers and tee boxes
The course is beautiful and spread out. Just wish they took better care of their bunkers and the goat track tee boxes.
Worst Round of Golf in My Life
Reserved an early WEEKDAY (Tuesday) tee time to to get out and play and get home and work on the yard.
Had a 11:03 tee time and was paired with two guys who this was there second time on a golf course.
There were no reserved tee times from 10:08 till my tee time at 11:03. I got there at 10:30 to try and get out and get through. Manager said tell the starter your by yourself and let you go a head and go. Starter disagreed. He said I would have to wait till 11:03 and be paired with the twosome. Waited till 11:03 to start. Twosome as you can assume hit everywhere, missed the ball, didn’t know the rules etc. I worked with both of them some to help them out. We caught up with a foursome on hole 4, waited behind them. They caught up with a foursome on 5 so we now have three groups on #6. We were patient and waited our turns and caught up with a group of 8 playing 4 man scrabble. On hole #9 there was a eightsome on the green, foursome in the fairway and a foursome teeing off. We sat there for over a half an hour. Stayed behind these people for over 3 hours on the back nine. As you can see I was there from 10:30 am till 4:30 pm playing golf.
I have had issues with this course before and said I would never play again, but we have an outing on Friday and wanted to see the course again.
I swear this is the last time I play here. They were bought not too long ago and are not putting any money into course, no Marshall’s, greens were terrible, sand traps were washed out and have grass and weeds growing in them. That’s with a weekday $65 greens fee????
This was my last time there……..
Course is in rough shape.
Greens, fairways, sand traps and tee boxes in rough shape. Not a lot of time or money has been put into up keep.
Expecting better
Very disappointed. Always love this course greens were dead in several areas
fairway the same and the cart pass are just getting horrendous still love the course always have will be back but it needs some love
Excellent staff, poor course condition!
Very friendly and helpful staff!
The course was in a overall very bad condition. Overgrown tees and greens in a very bad condition. Absolute the worst I have experienced in Virginia Beach area. Course layout is good.
Great course
Played while on vacation .course was in very good shape for late summer. Staff was friendly and helpful, play was a little slow we were behind a foursome new to the game , but we all had to start somewhere overall great day
Tees and greens were in poor condition. Fairways somewhat acceptable. Significant deterioration since the last time I played this course.
Those pesky tee boxes
Some tees are decent but others need regraded. On the bad Tees we simply found a decent area to tee from and letter rip.. loved the fairways and greens. Marshall was out twice checking pace.. saw cartgirl 4 or 5 times.
Dry and hard
This is my home course. I play quite often. Greens are in great shape. Bunkers could use a good raking or fresh sand. Fairways are hard as concrete. Tee boxes are in terrible shape.
