Old Hickory Golf Club
About
Beaver Creek divides Old Hickory Golf Club with nine holes sitting north of the creek and nine holes south. The course has a classic parkland layout that plays across gently rolling hills. The fairways were cut through forests of mature hardwoods but they are wide and carefully sculpted to direct balls toward the middle. Skillful players could even try to use the contours to their advantage. Each hole has a bunkers but the bunkering is not excessive. In addition to the mounding and bunkering, the undulating terrain provides natural elevation changes. The golf course finishes with what is arguably its toughest hole. This monster par 5 is 620 yards from the back tees. It requires a drive over a ravine with a natural waste area to the left. Many consider it to be the toughest golf hole in northern Virginia.

Great Round on a Winter’s Day
Had a nice quiet round with very few people out yesterday-gave me a chance to get out by myself and work on a few things. This course is pretty challenging with a lot of rolling turf, water and tree hazard areas and dog legs. You have to make good decisions as you proceed down the par 4’s and 5’s. The guy at check in was very pleasant and the course was in good shape with tight greens. Am looking forward to warmer weather but it sure is nice out there now with no stinging and biting insects.
First time but not the last time
This was t first time here and I must say it was very nice. I’m originally from California so the course is very different much tighter than what I was accustomed to. Staff was friendly closer was nice… indefinitely be back.
Not worth the time or the money
Horrible. I could overlook the poor conditions of the course if it weren’t for the fact that someone kept turning the sprinklers on me on basically every hole on the back nine. I will never go back. The course itself is more dirt and weeds than grass. Definitely not worth the premium price tag. It could be a nice course if they could somehow rehabilitate it.
Great Course with Cold Hot Dogs
I really enjoyed the course the layout. It was challenging but somewhat forgiving. I enjoyed being able to use all of my clubs. The greens were rolling good and very challenging if you didn’t land your ball on the right tier. The par threes were nice. The course has some short par 4s you can really go after and the par 5s presented a nice challenge. The course is in a nice community but the houses only come into play if you hit horrible shots. The par 5 18th is a great finishing hole at nearly 600 yards!!! I caught it on the Hot Deal and woukd recommend you doing the same…
Early season
They took some needed measures last fall. Just beginning to grow in mid spring. Looking forward to May, June for this course. Want badly for course to return to its former qualities. Layout is spectacular, average golfer can have a great day once course grows in.
Great layout and fun track
Some quirky things with the way some of the holes are set into a housing community, so you’ll need to ride in a cart. But the design is great and challenging and the course is usually in fine shape. Recommended.
fun times
I had a blast playing. the staff was extremely friendly. the course was in great condition overall.
With a little more care...
Course seems to be typically wet, hence "cart-pathy/only rough" all the time. Because of the many trees, many leaves on the course, making it difficult to see/find balls in rough and fairways. Under all the debris, the greens are actually pretty good and fast (putt), holds and spins well (shots into)...if players would fix their ball marks (and an extra one too) and maintenance team use their blowers (am & pm). No rakes in the bunkers, they could use a maintenance run too. Would pay around/under $40 but not more than, considering pace is always an issue here.
