NEW KENT, VA (Feb. 19, 2002) Bluegreen Golf, a leader in developing residential golf communities and developer of Brickshire Golf Community in New Kent, VA, is offering the youth of Virginia a chance of a lifetime by getting to play golf with a legend. Beginning February 6, 2002 students across the state of Virginia will have the opportunity to enter an essay contest sponsored by Bluegreen Golf and Brickshire to win a chance to play golf with U.S. Ryder Cup Captain Curtis Strange, on Saturday March 23, 2002 at the challenging and beautiful Golf Club at Brickshire in New Kent, VA.
To have a chance to win, students will need to write an essay on What can be done to spread the game of golf to the youth of America. Essays should be around 300 words and will be judged on creativity, content and grammar. The essay contest will take place from February 4, 2002 until March 5, 2002. The winning students will get to meet Mr. Strange and play golf with him when he visits the Golf Club at Brickshire. Mr. Strange will visit the community in March to play his first official round of golf on the 18-Hole Signature Golf Course he helped design. Bluegreen/Brickshire Essay Contest
What Can Be Done to Spread the Game of Golf to the Youth
of America
Contest Rules and Requirements:
· A short essay of approximately 300 words.
· The topic, What can be done to spread the game of golf to the youth of America?
· Contest begins on February 6 and ends on March 5, 2002.
· Deadline for entries is March 5, 2002.
· Essays should be mailed to c/o Essay Contest, PRStreet, Inc. at 125 Edinburgh South, Suite 220, Cary, NC 27511. Or they can be faxed to 919-467-6219.
· Contestants must be in the grades 9-12.
· Body of paper must not identify the author or school, so that judging is performed entirely anonymously.
· Each essay must have a separate title page including the title, authors name, schools name and address, and authors telephone number
· Inaugural event takes place at Brickshire in New Kent, VA on Saturday, March 23, 2002.
· Finalists must be able to arrive on Friday night, March 22, and stay the following Saturday, March 23.
· Finalists must be accompanied by a chaperone who is at least 18 years or older.
· Bluegreen Golf and Brickshire reserve the right to use winners names and hometowns in any advertising or promotional materials, as well as any excerpts from the entries, relating to this competition without further notification, permission or compliance to the winners, except where prohibited by law.
Reward:
· Each winner will meet and take a photo with Curtis Strange and receive one autographed item.
· Each winner will play one hole with Mr. Strange on Saturday, March 23, 2002.
· Each winner will be an honorary guest at Mr. Stranges table during the VIP luncheon on Saturday, March 23, 2002.
· Each winner and their parents or chaperone will be able to play a full round of golf following the event on Saturday, March 23, 2002.
· Each winner and his or her parents/chaperones will be provided with accommodations for Friday night, March 22, 2002. (Transportation not included).
