Tour player honors legendary Virginia golfer Sam Snead in recent release
RICHMOND, Va. - As a way of recognizing his heroes, PGA Tour player David Frost's wine company is dedicating his wines to legendary golfers. This year's releases, the 1998 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, 1998 Reserve Merlot and the 1999 Chardonnay, honors Virginian Sam Snead.
Each bottle features a printed portrait of Snead and $1 from each bottle will go to the William C. Campbell Junior Scholarship Fund as administered by the West Virginia Golf Association as well as to the Virginia Golf Scholarship Program, coordinated by the Virginia State Golf Association.
Already, proceeds have raised more than $16,000 toward the fund.
"We are grateful to Mr. Frost and Mr. Snead for their thoughtfulness and generous contributions to junior golf," said VSGA Executive Director David Norman.
"Their dedicated efforts will help the game continue to prosper throughout the two Virginias." A non-profit organization founded in 1904, the VSGA has grown from six clubs since its inception to more than 280 today. In addition, the VSGA's membership numbers more than 85,000.
The VSGA promotes and conserves the best interests of the game as embodied in its honorable traditions through its tournaments, handicap program, course rating system, VIP and scholarship program as well as many other services.
