Heroes of Hope Golf Tournament to benefit brain tumor research

The Third Annual Heroes of Hope Golf Tournament to benefit brain tumor research will take place at the beautiful Lansdowne Resort in Leesburg, Va., on Saturday, April 17.

The Tournament is being hosted by The Brad Kaminsky Foundation for Brain Tumor Research in conjunction with the Duke University Brain Tumor Center. All proceeds will be used strictly for research to find a cure for the number one cancer killer of children and the No. 2 cancer killer of young adults.

Last year's tournament raised more than $25,000 toward the CURE. The tournament was a best-ball format and featured many contests including a hole in one, longest drive and "in the circle."

The hole-in-one prize was a Mercedes SL500. An awards dinner and silent auction followed the event.

The prognosis for malignant brain tumors is very poor and there have not been many advances in research over the past decade. That is beginning to change, but research facilities are in need of funding. The Brad Kaminsky Foundation was started in 2000 when Ashburn, Va. resident, Lisa Millar's brother, Brad Kaminsky was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumor.

Kaminsky lived 19 months from the day of his diagnosis dying at the young age of 29. He was an assistant district attorney and the father of two small children. Millar has vowed to continue fighting for the many people affected by a brain tumor. Your help is greatly appreciated.
