Richmond First Tee Golf and Driving Range partially open

RICHMOND, Va. -- Golfers who just can't wait to get into their swing will be able to use the 18 covered tees at Richmond First Tee, located at 400 W. School Street. The remainder of the facility, which ultimately will include two three-hole courses (one for adults and one for children), a new clubhouse and multiple grass tees, is still partially under construction and expected to open in May.

The covered tees at the driving range will be open for business from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. seven days a week.

The Richmond First Tee Golf and Driving Range is a joint project of the City of Richmond, Virginia and Richmond First Tee, a division of The First Tee, a national initiative of the World Golf Foundation that works to give urban youth the opportunity to experience and learn the sport of golf.

Richmond First Tee is the initiative's 100th facility. In addition to providing a convenient practice facility for area residents, Richmond First Tee and the city's Department of Parks, Recreation and Community Facilities will work together to provide a variety of programs for children that teach life skills as well as golf skills.
