Belmont Golf Course
About
Belmont Golf Club originally opened in 1916, making it one of Henrico County's oldest courses. The original design was updated in 1927 by Donald Ross and in 2020 by Love Golf Design. The course has a traditional layout. The length and design are indicative of the time when it was built, but it is just as challenging as any modern course. There are a few tough holes that will challenge even the best golfers. Mature trees line Belmont's fairways and there are strategically placed bunkers along the greens. Being one of the most affordable rounds in the area, Belmont Golf Club has become a favorite amongst locals over the years.

Updated course is great
Played this on the first weekend opened since the David Love remodel. Fairways and bunkers in excellent shape. Greens will be great after a couple more weeks of growing and mowing. Easy to walk, as the course is compact, but not short when you play from the tips.
Needs more thought.
It’s inconvenient. Feels like no thought has been put into the golfers experience when they get there and attempt to use the facilities. Feels awkward. The placement of everything is off. Parking is disconnected from where you actually need to go with no real path to starter hut. The range is inconveniently located as well as the ball dispenser which also requires a long wait at the the starter hut. It’s not somewhere I would choose to practice with everyone crammed together in one spot within inches of a broken skull and on uneven ground. The price charged is not worth it for twelve holes. When it was still 18 holes that price would be a big ask. The greens are amazing and the bunkers are perfect but it’s also lost a lot more than it’s gained with the remodeling. People clustered up at the starter house blocking the carts from going out to the first hole is awkward. The practice green next to the first hole which is away from everything else is awkward and inconvenient. Overall it’s frustrating and doesn’t truly work as a place to go and relax and practice or play a round. I don’t know if it’s fixable at this point. I didn’t play the par 3 course because I’d had enough. If you have the misfortune to need a rain check you will be required to pay for the cart again. It feels pushy and desperate for money without any consideration for the golfers. The staff there are incredibly kind and helpful but can only do so much. I loved Belmont back in the day and now it just feels broken and frustrating.
Great Course
The course is in very good shape (Nov 8) and offers challenges CIR all skill levels. Tees are relatively forgiving but bunkers and greens are not. Greens were fast! Fairways, rough, bunkers, and greens all in very good shape. I really enjoyed the terrain as it was up and down and the greens were anything but flat and straight. Overall a very good, enjoyable course.
Killer greens and bunkering but this is only for 12 holes
Killer greens and bunkering but this is only for 12 holes. It was a fun experience but driving from Hampton roads for 12 holes was a bit disappointing. The starter said we could play the 6 hole par 3 but when i asked why not 6 more holes on the regular course? He said no. Ok. Just be aware. It’s an incredible 12 holes and way more historical and interesting than many courses.
Belmont is back
This is a great 12 hole track that many golf greats have played. Course conditions were very good. I really enjoyed playing this course. Combine it with the 18 hole putting green and the short par three course my son and I enjoyed ourselves.
Amazing
Absolutely my new favorite course in Richmond, and certainly the best public course in RVA/ chesterfield/ henrico
Great 12 holes.
It’s a great 12 holes. Walked the course in about 2 1/2 hours. Greens are perfect, fairways are smooth. It is great to see the course back to its original design. You get to see what Ben Hogan and Sam Snead saw in the 40’s. 12 handicap and played from the tips. Some of the par fours were pretty long. Both par fives are fun. You’ll need to play once to get an understanding of where to hit your tee shots. Lots of blind shots due to elevation changes.
There is a new parking lot close to the starter building and practice area. I failed to realize this. Decent walk from the practice range to the first tee, it no big issue. There is a practice putting green right by the first tee. I recommend a few putts prior to teeing off.
For a quick 2 hour-ish 12 holes, it was pretty nice.
My new go-to between full 18 rounds.
Just no
Golf Now needs to remove ALL reviews prior to the First Tee takeover bc there is no relevance. This beautiful historical Tillinghast course was butchered beyond belief. They, the county, could have done better; they just gave up, didnt even try to make it better. Sorry, this track is a pass for me, I dont play 12 real holes and 6 holes of par 3s and consider it a real golf course. When you prorate the price, its like 70+ bucks a round with only 12 real Tillinghast holes. They screwed this place up, bunkers are super super deep and the rough around them are even more punishing; not exactly what First Tee learning kids would expect. No, I dont recommend this place, to anyone.
