Not worth it
Short course with a confusing and cluttered layout. Condition was fair at best. There are better courses near OC, MD for the same money.
The course is well maintained and the greens are in great shape.
I have played this course on numerous occasions and it is in real good condition. We had previously received 4 days of rain, so it was cart path only but everything went smoothly. Some of the holes are challenging, especially #16 which is almost surrounded by water. In spite of the wetness it was a very rewarding experience. The staff at Deer Run is always super friendly, which adds to the overall outing.
Average
This course can play easy or tough, depending on the tee box you pick, and how strong the wind blows. Recommend forward tees on a windy day for sure. Many blind shots and severe doglegs make this a shot-maker's course. The 16th over the water can be almost impossible to reach from the back tees into the wind. The greens hold a little dew in the morning hours and can be slow. All in all enjoyable.
course layout forces accurate club selection and shots
while this course is NOT a standard reg. 18 hole layout, its design lends one to play here to help practice shot and club choices. course condition and surrounding areas are not as maintained as one would desire. the clubhouse is small and certain 'facilities' need updating to adequately handle multiple users.
Price Is Right For Beach! Fun If You Like Link-Blind Shots
There is no bad golf - - just that some is better than others. This course leaves a lot to be desired. Greens were very difficult and need attention. However, if you don't like paying $100 for golf then the price Is Right For Beach Golf! It's more of a challenge since it's a Link-type course with plenty of blind shots. Watch out for water when you're least expecting. Too much crab grass! I'm such a cheap golf junkie that I'd still play it again and be able to beat my 89!
Huge Improvement for Deer Run!!!
I first played this course in April 2011 and after the round, "dropped" it from my return list. The ownership and grounds folks have done a stellar job in fixing the green issues. The course is laid out well and the greens roll out true. You get a full array of shots from narrow fairways on a few, to dog leg left and right on others. The Par 3, 13th is a full carry over water to a slightly elevated green and plays 165 yds from white and a testy 191 from the blues. A very challenging hole especially when the winds are up. I was very impressed with how far the course had come back and although I still think their "rack rate" is too high, but with a twilight rate or Golf Now deal, it's definately worth it. Enjoyed the course and had a great day of golf!
Great value, great conditions, definitely a repeat
Loved the course, pace of play less than 3 hours, greens were slow, but that was the only problem (probably due to rains the previous night). Fantastic value.
Although shorter than most courses, it was quite challenging.
The layout, although shorter than most courses, was very challenging and the greens were in superb condition. Sand traps were in excellent condition also. A very enjoyable day at a very affordable price.
Course has a great layout, just needs some attention on its tall grass, fairways(crab grass) & greens (air-raided in august?)

Great value
Very pleased with installation of super short yellow tees which were perfect for my girlfriend. 3000 yes is plenty for her and allowed her to score two pars and a birdie. Wish more courses would do this and encourage their use for novice/unskilled players. Speeds up play and lowers frustration.
Not worth the $
Played this course aeveral times over the last 8 years. Course is getting worse and price is going up. Looked like they did mow for 2 weeks then decided to mow the day i was playing...Fairway was filled with clumps of grass from the mower, almost every fairway had an area blocked off for repair, one hole was closed and I was never told there was a replacement hole, rough was so thick just off the fairway you had to walk right over top of your ball to be able to find it. There were some nice holes but not worth the increased prices that I have seen over the past few years. Plenty of other great courses for the money.
The course has tee boxes with length for all players comfort. Not crowded and had great pace.
First time playing this course and found it to be a very playable round of golf. People were very friendly and they provided some thoughts where we should avoid various side of the fairways for some holes. My play was a little off more than usual, but that was all player errors. Would recommend the course. Got very good price from Golf Now.
Very challenging, but not too difficult for the average golfer to enjoy.

Rough @ greens need attention!
I did find this course challenging , although its extremely short, there are a lot of areas that need attention. The rough is impossible to hit out of, all types of grass, weeds and whatever else growing. The greens are in fair shape . The staff was great, and with golf now it's affordable and a decent value.
Good for how low the price is.
Loved the cost of the course. It is well maintained although the yardage markers are often times off. And several par 3's are under 100 yards which was a disappointment.
Not a bad course to play on vacation
Course setup was kind of goofy. A lot of holes where driver is not the play and must hit iron off tee. Greens were very slow, and some were recently aerated. Overall nice course, would play again.
Well maintained, but short
Deer Run was a very nice course, well maintained, and super friendly staff. The course is on the short side and greens are very slow. If you enjoy a course that will give you a chance this is definitely it! I would play here again everytime I visit the area.
This course requires an above average course managment for many of the holes.
The greens are lush-but a bit slow on most holes. The fairways are in good shape and the rough is fair. This course requires a lot of accuracy on your shots! So it is a great challenge and it is well worth playing for the money.
Accuracy, accuracy, accuracy
This is a VERY target-oriented course. Many blind holes; sharp doglegs, both directions on some fairways. Lots of water, woods, rough. Pace of play is quite slow, so enjoy the scenery. That said, it's a fun course to play, just don' let it get to you. Worth the time and money.
two grasses on the greens?
The greens were rough. It looked like two types of grasses were planted. Many putts would bounce instead of roll to the cup. The people there were super friendly. At 20 dollars a bargain though and for someone looking for an inexpensive round, go for it.
