Waste of money
I used to play this course all the time as I was and still am a noobe.. I ran into a family of 6 with 4 small kids and the dad not knowing golf etiquette held up 3 separate groups... I won't go there again.
Great experience
great time with great staff... Really enjoyed this nine hole course
Overall Good for the Money
Unfortunately on the 5th or 6th hole, there is a big mud trench where I suppose a sand trap should be. I had to get my ball out and I got mud all over my shoe and then on my hands and inside my glove which caused my grip to slide. I played the rest of the game bad because of this.
Caution with reserving an online price
When I reached there, they refused to honor the deal stating that I had not picked a specific course. I bought the "Windy Hill Par 3- 9 Hole Riding for $15." I ended up paying full price for 9 holes on their lakes course. Either GolfNow needs to fix their offer options or Windy Hill has to honor the offer; this was unacceptable.
Overall the course was in decent shape. Tee boxes were too sandy for my taste. Group in front of us was taking forever and almost 7 people were in that group...not sure why they werent forced to break up that giant group.
I will not be going back.
Value course
A quick easy nine with a good pace. Great value if just have couple hours . Good practice with mid and short irons. Fairways little patchy and just sanded greens, but still nice 9 for the money.
Good starter course
It's not the MOST beautiful course in Richmond. But, it is nice.
It is a great course to start on, if you've never played golf, or you want to "warm up" before heading to other courses!
the hill
the course was ahhh ok they could use a make over the fairways use to be nice now theres crab grass growing in some spots greens so-so great pratice for the price
Beautiful day
I love 75 degrees little wind and all sun. Only had couple hours to play and this is the perfect place. Greens and tees in great shape and fairways almost there. Very easy pace and great place to work on approaches . Yes short and tight course , but nice variety of holes to get in a quick nine . If don't have a full day for 18 love this nine holes.
Spring is here
Nice warm up course to work off the winter rust. Still very soggy in fairways , but greens and tees starting to come around . Sand traps half still have standing water. Actually play nine here , lunch then nine at independance short and it's in much better shape and much drier. Weather was toooo good not to play all day. The difference is the cost. Very inexpensive and still nice layout to begin getting back your swing.
Quick practice round course
I've been going here for years and never disappointed. This course is great for warm-up rounds and for practice rounds and still gives you a challenge.
good for beginners
Wife just starting to play golf. Windy Hill is great for starters, and practice for me, that playing golf since 1996.
Be prepared for hole #9 par 5 uphill
Family Fun
Staff was friendly and helpful. This course is designed for family fun, the 9 hole par 3 course runs adjacent the longer course , which was the course we played. I had travelled to Richmond for business and neglected to research courses prior to getting into town. Since I hadn't reserved a tee time I used the Golfnow app to get a tee time for a specific time of the morning. I searched for a course with greens fees approx. $40 a round. This course offered 18 holes of play but only had 9 to play twice! What a disappointment !!!!
I still had fun, just wasnt the experience I was hoping for.
Fun
For intermediate to beginner , very nice course. Average condition, but some of that is the players fault. One hole looked like some had use green as a tee box. Signs were up stating please do not hit balls off putting surface. That' should be monitored by us players and make sure these idiots are kept in check. You only affect other players and is not fair to the workers working hard to maintain a clean and playable course for all. Like the layout , short but with the elevation changes and doglegs still very interesting and fun. A very good value and makes for an enjoyable couple hours . Will definitely be back.
This course is conveniently located
The additional cost to use a cart on the par 3 course was a bit pricey.
Great shape
This course for the price is in great shape. The fairways are nice and the greens although a little slow, very nice shape. Had a great time.
windy hill
The course is in good shape this year. A few challenging holes mixed with some confidence builders. Great place to play 9 and use most of your clubs in about 2 hours.
fun little course
nine hole course that has a few holes to challenge you. nice scenery not a lot of water good play.
Golf Now
We played the 9 hole course for 5 bucks each. Couldn't ask for a better value than that. The course was in great shape
A shorter course and in good shape.
Since this course is shorter than most and in good shape, having a lower score is possible and that makes my golf buddies very happy. It's a fun course to play.
