Fun to work on midrange game
I really enjoy this nine hole par three course very challenging to try to hit the greens every time also great to work on your mid range game if you need help. If you plan to play this course pretty much bring a nine iron pitching wedge and you’re putting LOL.
Nice to coarse for getting back on your game or to work on things
I really enjoy playing this course when I wanna work on a few aspects of my game. I really enjoy their short nine hole 27 parcourse and I also enjoy working on my longer range game on a nine hole Lakeside course. I always get my moneys worth although it could be a little less expensive at times. You could catch some deals on Golfnow or even Groupon. Overall I’ve played here a half a dozen times never any really complaints. Courses up kept very well although today the greens were a little slow LOL!
Enjoyable Course
I've enjoyed playing both the par 3 and the 9 hole championship course many times since I moved into the Richmond area about nine years ago. The course is very accessible to any one living in the Richmond area and when you are in a rush to get somewhere else, you can play in about two hours. The course is well maintained and offers a variety of moderately challenging holes in a beautiful natural environment. I played there with my 14-year old grandson recently, and we were able to play in about two hours. He just started golf a couple of years ago, and adjusted to this new course (for him) very easily.
Tee Time doesn’t work
Even if you book & pay ahead, they do not honor your tee time. It’s first come basis,, so get there early.
Rude Staff Member
So we had 3 players and asked for extra cart key so all would be safe, key given no problem- then After round staff member came out to us returning carts with an attitude and advised that this was no longer acceptable.
When we replied asking why were we not informed upon check in ; he didn’t respond and said he had sent out an email. Hello, who did he send email to and also, typically don’t review emails while playing golf...
Course was not crowded at all, no excuse for being rude to customers !
Not the best course condition but still a great value
I've played here twice and both times it was a great value, easy to get a time and not too crowded. The only negative I have is they weren't manning the first tee at all on a Saturday morning (I get it with COVID but no sense of direction from the proshop either). Course had a lot of sandy/dirt fairways, tee boxes and some greens but for the price, it's still a great deal.
Cheap and fun golf
I’ve played both the lakes course and the par3. Both are fun and very affordable to play. Laid back atmosphere and a decent course layout. Fairways and teeboxes are essentially dirt and weeds, but it’s also early season and there’s been a good amount of rain recently. The greens are in great condition. With the specials available you can walk 9 holes and hit a bucket of balls for $20. Can’t beat that.
Players
There were 6 groups out on number 1. On number 3, we were yelled at to hurry up, then hit into by a foursome. I get it’s public, I understand it’s about the money, but WOW! Also had groups of 4 going back and forth between the holes, jumping in front of us. Guess the quarantine has gotten to people.
Family Fun
Great options for players of different skill levels and family fun
always fun!... again
Even though I am a good golfer this course is always fun
Neat but slow
Course was a fun layout
Great 9 hole setup
Fairways were in good shape - some wet spots but had just rained a lot - course isn’t setup to drain well most likely so after a lot of rain I would wait a day or two for it to drain out
Greens in decent shape - few burnt spots but overall nice conditions for the price
Pace of play - had two sets of Jerks that wouldn’t let anyone through and were slow as dirt. No ranger to keep pace moving or tell groups to pick it up or let someone through. Just plan on it taking 2 hours to play
Attention!!!
I try to play here at least once every couple weeks but this was the worst shape I've ever seen this course! The greens were okay but the fairways were really bad. I really hope the staff does something about this soon because it was almost unplayable!
Overbooked and over priced
At least a 30 minute backup at each hole. Completely overbooked. $68 for 2 people and it’s not even a real 18 hole course.
Great beginner course
I have played this course 6 times in the last 6 months. Whether playing 9 or 18 holes, walking or cart, I have yet to have a bad experience. Today, my wife played, and she has never golfed before, and she was able to manage the challenges of the course. As a bonus, we did not lose a single ball due to fall leaves. Half of one green was under repair, and there was another green in need of some TLC, but it didn’t affect me sinking a 12-foot par putt. I will play here again, and I recommend it to any golfer, especially a beginner.
