Upset Player
I played this course several months ago and I said then that I would never play it again. For some reason, I decided to return, surely it was because of the Hot Rate. The greens were terrible. It appears that weeds were actually growing on the greens. I was told to play the Yorktown course, which was supposed to be in better shape. I was told by other golfer at the end of my round that the Jamestown course was terrible also.
Greens
Great layout....love the course.but greens were shot...awful....diseased.
Would play again abd more when greens are repaired
Hey Bob, we sure do appreciate your kind words here. We think we have a pretty great course, and the damage and disease done in the last year have taken us the better part of this season to repair. We continue to work on conditions and know that your next trip out will be a better one. Thanks again for noting the positives, we hope to see you again soon.
Bad green condition
The course was not really in a goid shape and the green were really really bad. I'm really happy that I used a hit deal
We can assure you we've been working diligently to improve conditions daily. Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback.
.The National Golf Course (Yorktown)
Great course very challenging, fairway were great but the putting surfaces seemed diseased brown spots all over so you couldn't get true roll on your putts.
If the green were maintained better I would like to play there again.
We're glad to hear you enjoyed the challenge of the course. We're proud of this layout and unique course. Disease has taken the better part of the season to fix, but we can assure you we're working hard to better these conditions and it's improving daily. Thank you for your feedback.
Not impressed
I book this round as a hot deal for $37. If I had to pay the regular $60 weekend rate I wouldn't be happy at all.
The course was in rough shape. Some of the greens were burnt up and all had spots of crabgrass or some other (non-greens) type grass growing all over them.
It's my understanding the course is up for sale so it goes to reason that the current owners aren't spending much to keep it in good shape.
Tee time was 8:40 on a Sunday morning. No starter, and only 1 of the two courses were open. So we were stacked up unnecessarily.
The temps were in 90's and they had no beverage cart on the course.
The course allows for a good score if club selection is right.
The greens have a disease so they were in bad shape. If paying rack rate would have ask for a refund but with golf now price good deal. Fairways need work before they get out of hand with weeds. Sand traps need work, looks like a week since last raked. Layout was very good for you to score good if the driver wasn't used on every part 4 and 5 hole. Par 3 holes were great distance, not long and a good place to get a birdie. Hole 14 is a par 3 with the green 2 tiered so if the flag is in the middle or up front and you are long expect to putt up a 5 foot hill to the top level. I have played the course when the greens, sand traps and fairways were in good shape and they would get a 5 star rating.
We appreciate you taking the time to share your review. We can assure you we've been working hard to improve conditions and continue to see daily improvement on the greens. We hope you'll give us another shot this season.
Williamsburg National Club Yorktown course review
The greens were atrocious. Not expected of this level of golf course. Not sure if it's been the recent rainy weather or poor green management, but many of the holes had bald spots and dirt patches. I guess I can't complain too much. $15 dollar green fees. Disappointing since the golf course itself was in a great location and backdrop of nice Williamsburg homes.
We thank you for coming out. The greens have taken the better part of the season to rid of disease, but we really want to let you know that we're putting in the work and continue to see improvement. Thank you for the feedback.
Enjoyable course
This is my first time playing the Yorktown Course. I think that I like it better than the Jamestown Course. The greens were in a bit better shape on this course, too. Look forward to playing it again!
Thanks so much for coming out Rich and sharing your experience! We really appreciate you sharing your positive feedback and hope to have you back soon!
Better than Jamestown
I liked this course better than Jamestown. It played well and I enjoyed the layout. That said, the greens rolled ok but were in terrible shape. Couldn't tell where the fairways were on some hole because they hadn't been mowed. Lost a ball in the fairway in the clover - yes clover! Generally seems to be not well attended to. I played on a GolfNow hot deal, so for the price it was great. Not worth the regular full price. Still I had fun!
We're glad to hear that you had fun and enjoyed the course. We can't say that the greens haven't suffered some serious disease last season / beginning of year, but we've been working hard to improve conditions. We appreciate your coming out and hope to have you back again.
Course ok
Course is in need of repairs
But the price I got it for under golf now, I cannot complain
but would not pay the full price
We appreciate you coming out. We've been working hard on course repairs and hope you'll give us another shot in the future.
Patchy Greens
This course was in good shape and played well earlier in the spring. The greens are not currently in good condition and do not putt well as a result.
The bunkers have suffered from all the rain also and will need some work.
The disease from early season has been taking lots of time and effort to repair, but we're making daily improvements. Thanks for sharing your feedback, we hope to have you back again this season.
I will play this course again
To begin my re view it rained heavily in the area a day prior to our play day. Course was cart-path-only. Usually, not a good thing, but it turned out to be a good day. The weather was nice the course was not really that wet. The greens on the first couple of holes were not in the best of shape, but the back 9 played very nice. I chose Yorktown because it was the more challenging of the two. I'll have to return to see if that is correct. Rate on Golf Now was very good. We are already looking for dates to return to play the Williamsburg course.
Williamsburg National
Course is in fair shape and back nine of the Yorktown course is more difficult than the front.
Great Course Great Price
This course is very well maintained and when you book a hot deal its like playing for free. Worth 75 a round no problem
YORKTOWN
COURSE WAS IN TERRIBLE SHAPE WAS NOT WORTH THE HIGH PRICE THAT THEY ASK
Nice Course
This is a nice course to play, we enjoyed it more than the Jamestown course. The course was very wet from rain the previous days and some of the bunkers were in very rough shape because of the downpours the days before, at least that is what we were assuming.
We played from the whites because of our skill level but could have played from the blues to make it a hair more challenging.
Nice big greens, pretty easy to hit and very receptive, but again, a lot of rain in the days before we played. Greens could use a little work on a couple of the holes, but that is if you really want to nit pick, the parts needing work never came into play with our pin positions (4).
Pace of play was very good. Completed 18 in under 3 hours with a couple groups letting us play through.
I would recommend giving this course a try, we will return.
just ok
course is in average condition, but for $25.00 its worth it. I went out at 12:30p by myself and got done in just about 3 hours. I wouldn't want to pay any more for this course.
Thank you for taking the time to review the course. We've been working hard this year to improve conditions, and they will continue to get better. We appreciate your feedback and hope you'll come for another round soon!
Nice layout Needs some TLC
There had been quite a bit of rain the week before and they were only allowing 90 degree access off the cart path. Even with the rain the fairways were mostly dry and firm so I was surprised by the cart restriction. They also don't have a "Blue" flag exemption. The course is a nice layout but the weeds are terrible and it could use some freshening.
Thank you for the feedback. We continue to improve conditions -- hope you'll visit again.
Course Poorly Maintained
Could be great course but not well maintained
We are working to continue to improve conditions as the season goes on. We hope you'll give us another visit soon.
Not as bad as other reviews
Played the round in 3hrs and 20 min. Greens in good shape. Fairways not great. A lot of fairway and green side bunkers. Starter and rangers very friendly.
Thank you so much for the feedback. We are actively working to improve conditions, but really appreciate you putting in a good word. We hope to see you again soon!
We've spent the season trying to undo damage and disease on the greens. Thank you for your feedback, we will continue to work to improve conditions and hope you'll come back to see improvements in the future.
