About
Beaver Creek divides Old Hickory Golf Club with nine holes sitting north of the creek and nine holes south. The course has a classic parkland layout that plays across gently rolling hills. The fairways were cut through forests of mature hardwoods but they are wide and carefully sculpted to direct balls toward the middle. Skillful players could even try to use the contours to their advantage. Each hole has a bunkers but the bunkering is not excessive. In addition to the mounding and bunkering, the undulating terrain provides natural elevation changes. The golf course finishes with what is arguably its toughest hole. This monster par 5 is 620 yards from the back tees. It requires a drive over a ravine with a natural waste area to the left. Many consider it to be the toughest golf hole in northern Virginia.

6 hour play time
I played here on a week day at 10:20. We did not finish until 4:15 pm. It was brutal. Staff did not care about the AWFUL pace of play. The ranger could not care less. The course is NOT walkable. There are SIGNIFICANT GAPS between holes. Over a mile between the clubhouse and the first hole, and a similar gap between 9 and 10. Other measurable gaps between 1 and 2, 3 and 4, 4 and 5, 8 and 9, 12 and 13.
The course is fine. definitely get able. Greens were good for February. around the greens it was very inconsistent.
Nice layout
The course has a nice layout. The bunkers are terrible and basically ground under repair. The greens were good. It was a bit wet out so the course was soggy from the heavy rains a few days before.

Course plays very good…challenging…nice course layout with very few quirky holes…enjoyable round
Old Hickory 9 holes
I have not played here in years and really glad I booked here even though I only played 9 holes. The course was in great shape and had a great time. I will definitely be back for a full 18.
This course is in rough shape and not worth the $90 fee.
Bad course worse staff
Courses play slow. It happens. Having a course back up 8 holes with 3 groups per hole is intentional neglect. Played 3 holes in 1 hour 5 minutes as 2 singles. This course does not care about the quality or the sustainability of the course. Mismanaged so badly no bunker was playable. Cart path only for 35 minutes of rain the day before.
Never Again
BLUF - If you're within 25 miles of this place, steer clear. If you're within 10 miles, move. If you're on the property.....you got issues dude

The course is coming back. Bunkers still have some meteorites in them. I’ll be back.
Good Weather, Good Conditions, Great Deal/price, EXCEPT...
There was a shotgun tourney started 30 mins before my tee time...unusual to me. Two groups ahead of me, foursome playing best ball and terribly slow. Group ahead of me, two guys two girls, worse...course is not for lessons nor loud music. It took 50 mins for the group behind me, a fivesome to catch up. Didnt know courses allowed that anywhere. Greens in pretty good shape but patrons don't repair their ball marks (nor rake the bunkers). Leaf-blowers needed on some fairways. No starter, no marshal...took over 4 1/2 hrs for the round.
A course that has seen better days. Signs of compacency by all involved everywhere.
