Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club
About
Raspberry Falls Golf & Hunt Club offers the traditional links course reminiscent of those found in the British Isles, situated amidst Virginia's horse country. The club gets its name from the land's former use, a raspberry field. The scenic terrain overlooks to Catoctin Mountains and there are still a few raspberry bushes dotting the course. By far the layout's most formidable challenges come from the deep, stacked pot bunkers that make it truly feel like a classic Scottish golf course. There are also water hazards on a few holes. The course's signature is the par-4 third hole, which is long but plays downhill all the way. The 10th hole, another par 4, is one of the toughest. The landing area is generous off the tee but there is a creek and pond to the left and fairway bunkers on the right.

Raspberry Falls
Great course. Staff real friendly. Amenities great! Great layout. Only complaint is we had to wait on the group ahead of us on almost every tee box. They were a foursome and we were a threesome, but then the foursome behind us was waiting on us. This is the first time this has happened. Love the course though.
Mediocre course at a premium price
This course used to be my favorite in the area,, until they raised the price and eliminated the free range balls. The fairways are in terrible condition, and the rough and tee boxes aren’t much better. Very frustrating when you can’t find your ball that’s just off the fairway. Not worth the money, even with a discount.
Love the course
Love this course but due to recent rainfall, it was not in great shape. Too bad they charged (and we paid) premium green fees for such crappy conditions. But I’ll play there again.
Weekend Golfer
I had played Raspberry Falls in the past - though some years ago - and remembered it as challenging but well taken care of course with beautiful views. While the course layout and views remain as nice as ever, the course conditions and the management of play made for a very disappointing experience. The course was not nearly as well taken care of before with deficient weed management on many of the fairways and the condition of fairway and green turfs indicating that it was not getting the kind of care you would expect. In addition, for the Sunday we played, the course had far too many players on it, leading to major delays on virtually every hole on the front nine and that continued on the back nine. We were headed for 5.5-6 hour round and so we quit after the 12th hole so as not to have spend late into Sunday evening to finish. These issues with the course are fixable but the staff did not really seem interested in accommodating its guests. I would think more than twice before going there again anytime soon.
what happened?
I've played this course for the past 20 years. Today's round was the worst shape I have seen the course. The greens were slow, bumpy, full of weeds. The fairways were chewed up considerably.
Course was NOT in good shape
Very disappointing for a first time visitor. Fairways were beat. Some of the tee boxes were not well maintained. A few of the bunkers were a mess.
The wooden bridge to the 18th green has been washed out / wrecked by a storm.
Disappointed
I’ve played here a number of time, awhile ago. I was really disappointed with the condition of the course. Greens were ok but had a lot of ball marks. The traps were horrible. All were lacking in quality sand. Many were like rock gardens. The weather has taken a toll on the Bent fairways and tee boxes. Sad.
Awful Shape (8-23-2020)
One of my fave courses has really fallen on hard times. Course is in awful shape and I advise anyone expecting a 'top shelf' course to look elsewhere until mid-Sept. Apparently NO ONE replaces their divots any more, so couple this with recent aeration/rain and you get some really beat up greens. #11 was 50% sand so good luck holding your line. Almost every fairway has GUR and the tee boxes look like they hosted a rodeo. I'm happy to spend $$ on good courses but it's galling that Raspberry continues to ask $109 when county muni's are in FAR better shape and FAR less expensive.
Very disappointing
Played 8/23/20. Course was in bad shape: fairways beat up, rough not mown well, bunkers full of mud. No ranger management or they over booked as painfully slow. 1 of our 3 gave up after 7 holes, we gave up after 12. Definitely not worth it for the money and will not play there again.
Rough Shape
The course is looking pretty rough. Definitely not in good enough shape to pay top dollar. Dead spots throughout the course. Greens still recovering from aeration on top of dead spots. A flash flood actually took out the 18th green bridge. It needs a lot of work.
Course in terrible condition
Had a torrential rain 10 days prior - sand traps were traps of dirt - sand washed away - worst part - CART PATH ONLY ENTIRE COURSE. Some fairways just dirt - no grass.
This place could be so nice...
Nice touch by RGM to dispute a negative review by blaming it on 7” of rain. Funny thing the weather service said Leesburg only got 2.25” inches of rain on the day in question. They also have something called pumps that drain bunkers. RF is a great layout, but too often underwhelming conditions. Drainage issues can be fixed, and sod can be replaced. Please restore the course to what it should be. Especially at the rates you charge. Can’t blame it on the outings this year, just neglect.
Going downhill....fast
This golf course used to be a premier course in DMV area. Sadly...not any more. Gone is the GPS from the carts, the course condition is poor (bald patches in fairways, greens are very poor, cart paths are broken/in disrepair, etc.). At the current price point, I would expect better.
game wasn’t on, but course was spectacular
could tell it’s been used up this summer, fairway needed some work and had some rough patches. Greens were also very sandy and bumpy which made them a bit hard to play at times. Overall, some spectacular views from tee boxes and professional looking holes. Would definitely look to come back once course is in a bit better shape.
Complete Rip Off
Charging $100+ for this course is truly a slap in the face. Greens are overgrown and trashed, they do not play true and you’ll be second guessing reads all day. There legitimately wasn’t a single playable bunker, we had to pull our balls out of either mud or water in every one. Overwhelming amount of decaying spots in fairways (half of balls hit in fairway will land in unplayable lies) and rough that’s more overgrown than Bethpage on Sunday at the PGA Championship define this course. If you you are considering either paying the outrageous greens fees or driving from the city to play this course please think again. I’ve played $30 municipal courses that are 5x better than the conditions at this place. I realize that bad rain and weather can affect the conditions but how about investing some of the $100 price into the drainage and course Superintendent. Incredible rip off. Stay away!
Did not Pluck a Raspberry
Really enjoyed playing the course. It was hot but they did have a cart person. They also supplied a cool towel, great touch. I would play again. Yes they were wearing mask and being safe.
Love this course
Everything and everyone is pleasant from the moment you drop your bags off. Highly recommend this course. A good challenging 18 holes
You do realize 7 inches of rain fell in 2 hours the day before. Name me one public course in the DMV area that would not have washed out bunkers after 7 inches of rain in 2 hours.
