Short, yet challenging cours.
Great short course. Conditions were excellent and the greens were rolling very well.
Strange Layout
Short course that puts a premium on accuracy. I used every club in the bag and teed off with probably ten different clubs along the way. Strange routing with back-to-back Par 3s and 5s, but definitely a course to make you think. No grip and rip. Some might call it tricked-out, but I enjoyed the challenge. The second cut was downright punitive in length.
Great conditions, gimmicky course
I thought the course was a little unfair just because there are a fair amount of blind shots and bizarre doglegs, etc. That said, the greens were in wonderful shape, there are great obstructed water views, and the staff was very friendly (even played corn hole with us on the patio afterwards).
Challenging, but fun course
This was my first time playing the course, and I was expecting it to be easier than it ultimately turned out to be. No problem there...I like a challenge once in a while!
The fairways are pretty tight, and there are some very unique holes here, including a boomerang-shaped par 5 that elicited some inappropriate exclamations and forehead smacking when we drove to the tee and saw the course map for the first time.
As most first shots won't require a driver, I ended up using medium to long irons on most tee shots in an attempt to keep it in the fairway.
Another word of warning...due to the narrowness and plenty of water and wetland hazards, this course will eat lots of balls, which is evident by the roughly two dozen balls I found while searching for some of my own shots. So if you're not a ringer, make sure you have plenty of balls to make it through the round.
In the end, we all had fun and we're planning to come back in the future when the Hot Deals allow.
Short, but fun par 70 course
Played on a beautiful weekday for only $39 so good bang for the buck. Play was a bit slow considering there are 4 par 3s on the front nine. The greens had been recently aerated and sanded but the course should be in great shape in a week or two.
This was my "home course" for a long time and will always have a spot in my heart.
I've played Ospreys for years, watched it grow from a 16 holer run from the basement of a model home to it's current legitimate 18-hole par 70 course. It's always a challenge, especially for those without local knowledge and those whose balls are too big for the washer.
The problems I have with this course and its always been these same ones. There is no regard for tee times. Starters are kids, without the fortitude to enforce start order corresponding to scheduled tee times. They'll do other things too like fail to inform you of pin placements and send a foursome out in 3 carts.
The course is relatively "close-in" and inexpensive, so it seems to attract large crowds with many less that stellar skilled players, one's that cannot be bothered with raking a sand trap or filling their divot holes. This contributes to some of the longest rounds I've ever played... ever. This again goes to course management by staff, who must enforce a slow play policy.
The grounds crew continues to ease this course up by removing more and more rough. I was dismayed to see several trees removed from number 5 and 17. One of the best things about this course was its difficulty and it just keeps getting easier because of such short-sighted groundskeeping.
My last gripe... grooming. It's always a little downtrodden. I guess I understand why... because of the volumes of golfers this course sees.
This was my "home course" for a long time and will always have a spot in my heart. However, I've not been impressed much lately.

A good course
This course is good. It's very challenging and narrow so you must hit the ball straight or bring plenty with you. The greens are well maintained and are about average speed. I will be coming back
Not a fan of short tracks.
My game is certainly not up to "par", pardon the pun, however, the course is a bit too short for my liking. I think there is more risk than reward, I will admit I allowed the course to intimidate me, I don't like playing scared...
Tee boxes are in poor shape but fairways and greens are in good shape.
Played for $20 on GolfNow on Friday afternoon so for the price it was worth playing. Just need the tee boxes to improve and this course would be definitely worth the cost.
Course greens rolls very similiar to practice greens; there are a few dog legs, both right and left.
The course provides a challenge for all levels of golf, thus I think for the money it is one of the best. Course management is definitely something you can not ignore, otherwise you can get a bogey or worse a double bogey as a result of lost of focus. It is a fun course that will return again and again. There is a great practice putting/chipping green, but the practice tee area is hitting into a net.
Course is very clean and exciting. Green is same as professional one.
Green and Fairway are cared well.
Courses are very exciting.
But some holes are danger because they are closed to apartments and road.
Good shot making is a must.
Overall it's a short yardage course that won't challenge your long-distance shots except for a couple of par 4s. And although all the par 5s are less than 500 yards (even from the back tees), you won't be able to use driver off the tee or reach the green in 2 strokes on most of them because of severe dog-legs. However, the course will force you to make good shots--miss the fairway and you're likely to lose your ball.
Very intimate with nature
One reason we all play golf to for the escape from hustle and bustle of city life. This course is situated within and by a nature preserve. For me, the overall golfing experience satisfaction comes from being in an environment where many pleasures in life are taking place around you. People fishing in the bay/river, wildlife flying overhead, and mature trees isolating you from the other holes in play are reasons for promoting Osprey Golf Club at Belmont Bay.
This review is being written after my first round of play at Osprey. The course is challenging and had I not taken photos from the plaques in the 19th hole restaurant facility, I would have been in trouble with how to play many holes. In fact the #10 par 5, caused me confusion and I hit to the #11 green instead. Playing as a single, I can only blame myself for not knowing the correct direction.
The housing, surrounding the course is generally multi-story condos or apartments is sparse and they truly have views of great beauty.
A tremedous experience and a challenge.
Course is in good shape and recently aerated getting ready for a tremendous season. The staff here is EXCEPTIONAL!!!
